Powerful Pigment, PLEASE remember your gloves!
For someone who really loves stretching out hair appointments for color, I'm always on the lookout for a product that is going to keep my hair vibrant but also not ruin it. Overtone really hits the mark with that challenge, it has a fresh minty scent too which is a relief as I've learned a lot of these products leave little to be desired when it comes to scents. It also left my hair so soft and shiny while also depositing powerful pigment, which lasted for multiple washes after using it the first time. My only word of advice is USE GLOVES, this product is very pigmented but that also means it will stain anything it touches that isn't your hair.

Very purple hair and no purple bathroom
My daughter loves Overtone! And I do too! As so many teenagers do these days my daughter loves to change up her hair color on a regular basis and this is the most gentle and easy way to make hair changes. My daughters hair is a medium brown and we worried that the purple would show up more blue but it came out very purple and itâs so easy to apply. Weâve done other color products and inevitably the color gets all over the bathroom. This color is thick and covers well and doesnât drip all over. Itâs a great way to change up hair color and experiment!

Twighlight Titanium is not Extreme Silver
TWIGHLIGHT TITANIUM IS NOT EXTREME SILVER - IT IS A DIFFERENT PRODUCT I have used Overtone Extreme Silver for several years. LOVED the product, the color and the wonderful mint smell. Also, loved the vegan and ethical approach of the privately owned company, and the story of the founders - 2 girls in their 20s building a company out of sheer gusto and ingenuity - so I stocked up on the product to support their vision. When my supplies started to dwindle I tried to purchase more but couldn't find it online. Then, I started getting bombarded with messages and videos on social media stating it was renamed " Twighlight Titanium". (Meaning the company is clearly buying personal information). I decided to purchase 2 batches (at a notably higher price than Extreme Silver) because my supply of Extreme Silver was running short. When I received the Twighlight Titanium I still had some Extreme Silver left, so decided to use that on one side of my head then add the Twighlight Titanium on to the other side. Hey, same product, right? BIG MISTAKE. Extreme Silver is purple in the jar, smells like mint and makes my hair shiny and soft. Twighlight Titanium is dark blue in the jar, smells like moldy bread, and left my hair dull and dry. My scalp was very itchy after use. It acts like a toner, there was no color change, just dulled and dried my hair. The label is so tiny I had to get a magnifier to read the ingredients. Guess what - harsh chemicals are now included. I decided to check the company to find out why the vegan, ethical stance changed. And you guessed it- PRIVATE EQUITY took over. 2 tech bros got involved, deposed the founders and put a not-for-profit (a.k.a tax dodging) guru in as the new President. Like so many great start-ups and family owned companies running ethical, profitable businesses, Private Equity has ruined Overtone. Why pretend the products are the same? Why pretend they are vegan and chemical free? Deceptive advertising is not going to earn you repeat customers. I might have been tempted to purchase if you had been honest about discontinuing a line and advising the ingredients now include some chemicals. Saying the two are the same is such a typical Private Equity lie.

Hydrating and Rich!
Overall, I like this product! I ordered the cherry chestnut color, and it came out a warm, red-toned brown. TLDR: I think they could benefit from more specific directions, and it would be ideal if the product came with disposable gloves, but it feels hydrating without weighing my hair down, and the color is lovely. It took a bit of trial and error to get the application right. The first time I did it, I just applied it straight onto dried hair and left it for 10 minutes as instructed. The color wasnât very vibrant or consistent, but it still left my hair soft and shiny. The second time I tried, I split my hair into sections and focused more on even distribution. I also left it on for about 30 minutes instead of 10. This gave my hair a very shiny, rich color. I have a lot of long hair, and I was able to get 2 uses out of this container. BEWARE: this product is VERY staining. It stained my floors, towels and clothes during application, and stained my bathtub while washing it out. I was able to get most of it off my skin by scrubbing with rubbing alcohol, but I HIGHLY recommend getting gloves.

Fun Color with Zero Damage đ
Really loved this Overtone Indigo Iris conditioner! The color comes out vibrant but not overpowering, and it makes my hair feel super soft and healthy. No damage at all, just smooth, nourished hair. Easy to use, smells nice, and I love that itâs vegan and cruelty-free. Great option if you want fun color without the commitment! đ

Mixed results with light brown hair
Extreme Teal, Extreme Blue, Extreme Green, and Scarlet Red, hoping to tint my thin light brown medium-length hair. Extreme Teal: Tried a strand test of 15 minutes with zero results, so I said screw it and did my whole hair, leaving it on for just over 30 minutes - it had no colour and made it slightly darker. My hair is similar to the 'red' in the product pages' image. The darker shade of brown rinsed out after a single wash. Extreme Blue: Tried a strand test of 15 minutes with zero results, so again, I said screw it and did my whole hair, leaving it on for just over 30 minutes - gave me a dark black-blue shade of hair, albeit, the colour was only really visible under direct light. It looked good, not as bright of a hue as I would have wanted, but generally pleased. It lasted three washes before returning my hair back to normal. Have not tried Green or Red yet, but I have just ordered their coloured conditioner which I am hoping will help push back the wash count. Three washes isn't great, especially considering considering I use a shower-cap to keep my hair dry until washing, and I use quality Redken shampoo & conditioner. I will say the conditioner has made my hair look and feel a bit thicker which is a nice touch, and it is real easy to apply.

When you try to go blonde and it doesnât quite work out
So I had salon blonde hair and I wish I knew about this before my wedding đI died it brown to match my red traditional Chinese dress (my husband is Chinese I am Caucasian for reference) and thought cause I used wella toner to get brown and a semi permanent red as filler before brown I could just use some of that bond building color remover and go right back to my blonde. No. I could not. Hair being in a very touch and go state later đ and refusal to be this awful weird green tint after using products the lady at Sallyâs suggested that shocker didnât work with toning đ (she suggested I use a dye over a toner for a nice âmushroom blondeâ and my hair went green blonde or like mucky dishwater just dear god after I did so much to strip the dang dye out) I didnât want to try and go back down the color cycle back to brown and looked to see what colors overtone or xmondo had. I work as an engineer so I couldnât do a head of like blue đ and I needed it to last (xmondo is just meant for more pale blonde I found out and also meant to wash out sooner plus I didnt see any natural shades when I looked) and overtone had good reviews and videos for being lasting and I also saw a lot about using it on blonde. I got the espresso brown and put it on but much more carefully haha I didnât glop it on I used little bit by bit and it spread pretty good. Has consistency of like mud but smelled nice. Left it on for the 15 minutes with the Walmart bag on my head đ. And it honestly came out great! My hair was VERY porous after what itâd been through and I even did a protein treatment before I applied it so it went on like medium to dark Iâd say and I shampood after to try and get any left over or build up on my scalp too. Itâs been through a couple washes and one being a salon wash cause I had to get a haircut and still no fade really (Iâd say about 5 so far) I wash my hair usually like 2-3 times per week. It looks just as it did day 1 but when I do wash though (I donât use cold water) like after I shampoo it does turn the water colors but I wouldnât freak out about that to be honest cause it sticks pretty good. I have shoulderâŚhad đâŚshoulder length hair (massive trim) and Iâd say I only used like 1/4 of it cause I used little by little but I also have more fine hair. Will continue honestly using this while my hair grows out cause I just really love it overall and may never go back to harsh dyes again depending on how the fashion colors do once it grows out a little and I can do my ends

Great toning, lots of gray covered, and lasts a long time
I used this Overtone Espresso Brown Color Depositing Mask on my husbandâs hair. He has naturally black hair with a lot of gray, and it toned the gray really well, blending it naturally with the rest of his hair. The result looked soft and natural, not harsh like regular hair dye. Another big plus is the size of the container. The jar is large and will last a long time, especially compared to regular hair dye that usually only lasts for one use. This makes it very convenient and cost-effective for ongoing maintenance. On top of that, his hair felt soft, healthy, and shiny after using it. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an easy, gentle way to tone gray hair at home.
