Great except for certain wet rock situations
I hike extensively in the White Mountains and this shoe was my first foray into using a trail runner. I bought it for use on forest trails with a minimum of rock and ledge. For that usage these have been great. The mesh design helps keep my feet cool and I now have the option of walking through a stream knowing the the water will easily flow out of the shoe allowing my feet to dry. The soles provide good feel of the trail while shielding my feet from pointy rocks. My only gripe concerns usage on wet rocks. In some cases its like being on ice; zero traction. Dry rock isn't a problem.Wet rock aside I would buy these again especially since I now know their full performance profile.

My new everyday shoe
Bought these to use for everyday use-going to the grocery store, gym, etc. I have been running barefoot for years now and can only wear lightweight shoes at any other time. My size 9.5 Mixmaster 2 weighs in at less than 8.9 ounces per shoe (I wear a size 9 dress shoe for sizing thoughts). The arch area of the shoe looks incredibly small when viewed from the sole but they are very comfortable on my foot. The sole is not very grippy and i'm hoping Merrell will make the same shoe with perhaps a Vibram sole next time I would buy it for hiking instantly.

Great Shoe, Great Fit, Great Price
So I saw these on Amazon for only $39.99 and was confused why, but I ordered them anyway. Turns out they were sold and shipped by The Sportsman's Guide so I got a bit nervous. They were delivered on time and just what I was hoping to receive. My only complaint is that they were marked "Defective" on the box in inside the shoe. I've taken them apart as much as I can but can't find anything that I would consider a flaw. So, that being the case, they were a great deal and I'm completely happy with them.

Please note this is MM1, not the 2nd version.
I currently own five pairs of Trail Gloves and am very satisfied with them. Its because of the trail gloves that I decided to tryout the Mix Masters. I purchased my Mix Masters in April of this year, and I liked how the shoe was very light and had slightly more cushioning that the Trail Gloves, but I was disappointed with the quality of the materials used to make the shoes. The upper mesh part of both shoes have torn with simple running. To be honest I wish I could tell you that I ran so much that the shoes could not handle it, but the truth is that I lost two months since April due to an injury, and when I did run, the longest run i had was 5 miles. I'm very disappointed and I learned that I'm not the only one whose had these problems with this model shoe. No I will not recommend this shoe.

Extremely Comfortable Shoes
I am a 37 year old male and don't get into buying a huge variety of shoes. I generally have a pair of everyday shoes and then running shoes. I was looking for something that would be a nice cross between the two. These were the ticket. They are very comfortable and light weight, I could easily run in them. They have a nice studded tread pattern that give a positive grip feel when walking, and they look good with jeans. What more could you want?

Perfect fit
Fantastic shoe for hiking, running, or just hitting the gym. Fits like a really nice glove; so well in fact that I've been wearing them while at home and when I was ready to leave the house started looking for my shoes as i didn't realize I had them on! They are also very light weight and have good traction in dirt, grass, and gravel. Not great on slippery/wet rocks, but that's not what they were designed for. Overall, probably one of the best pair of shoes I've ever owned.

ehh there ok
After a few months of trail running and races the mesh started coming apart. The Soles have held up well but after about 8mths i retired them. they do fit large b/c there is no support so keep that in mine. like I said, not a bad shoe but not great.

Great shoes
I'm not a very good runner. When I've tried to run in the past I've had issues with my shins and back. I've been running with these shoes for about 3 weeks now and they're great. No issues at all. They're very comfortable on long runs and I've been very pleased with them. If you're going to wear them on cold days make sure to use a heavier sock or your feet will be cold for a while until you warm up. Other than that, love them.
