Creep

Just As Enjoyable As The First One
Despite having clear differences from the first one, this movie has the exact same charm. Hilarious and unnerving, just like the first Creep. Both movies are extremely fun to watch-- highly recommend.

Very uneven, but really terrific where it's strong.
Alernately enthralling and frustrating mix of creepy and often effective psychological thriller, well-acted blackly comic character study, and somewhat dopey ‘found footage’ horror film. This 2 character film has a simple set up. A young videographer gets a job to spend a day in a mountain town filming a stranger for $1000. The odd character who hired him claims to be dying of cancer, and wants to make a video diary for his unborn son. We know instantly it won’t be as simple as that, but Mark Duplass does a great job as the subject, sliding from heartbreaking to creepy to annoying to phony back to believable in the blink of an eye. Director Patrick Brice also does solid work playing the cameraman and potential victim. Brice and Duplass wrote the script together. There are some effective twists, and some truly scary moments, although many of those are what I call 'cheap shot-jolts' -- as simple as a sudden loud noise to make us jump. There are a few moments where it seems like the story will boldly go somewhere totally unexpected (like switching who is victim and victimizer, or having the relationship between the two men become sexual) but sadly the film backs away from leaping over those edges into even more unique, brave and disturbing territory. It also has a few deeply silly moments, where characters do things for no conceivable reason other than to help the plot along. Horror films have trafficked in those ‘don’t go in there alone!’ moments forever, but the greater intelligence to the writing and character in this film makes those tropes more annoying.A good, fun film, and one I know I’ll enjoy seeing again. But at the same time, it had greatness in it’s grasp, and its frustrating that it gets in its own way enough to undermine that.

If you loved "Creep" you will love this one
If you loved "Creep" you will love this one, it's hard to make a sequel to a film that's so interesting but director/writer Patrick Brice pulled it off along with the talented Mark Duplass. I love how this film starts, it puts you right in the feel of the first one. Although if you saw the first movie you know instantly what is going on and that's what I love about this sequel it gives you some of the old and a lot of new. I've watched this film a few times trying to figure out when Aaron/Josef is lying and when he is telling the truth and it's haunting how manipulative he is to get a certain reaction out of whoever is in his presence. The character of Sara is perfect to go toe to toe with Aaron, she's not easily scared and she doesn't fall into the typical "woman in horror film" outline. As much as you wanted to distrust Aaron it's hard not to in fact if I met a person like this in real life i'd fall into the same trap the others have. That's what I love about this character, you meet weird people like this every so often where they seem crazy but loveable and you find yourself wondering if by interacting with them is somehow going to ultimately decide your fate. Bottom line, if you loved the first one you will enjoy this one. I purchased the dvd of it and was a little disappointed by lack of special features, all that is included is a trailer. I'm one of those audio commentary nerds and I loved the commentary from the first film and I was hoping to hear some on set stories........I know there must of been a few! But either way definitely watch this! I wonder where the third one will take us. #butimasfreindlyasarabbit

What a Garbage Film
It's amazing how many superlatives are blindly thrown at this film. I am glad I bought it used DVD and I will be throwing it in the trash so that no one else will have to deal with at least this copy of the movie.Back to the superlatives. The overwhelmingly positive reviews are weird. If I had watched the movie as described by the reviewers I would have witnessed a startling vision of psychological horror, a connection with one or both of the characters, an overall good example of dialogue driven suspense, and an ending that would have left some impression on me. Nope. I think the Blumhouse thing has run its course. Time for the next overhyped independent release.

The Peachfuzz Project
I've been aware of this movie for a very long time, I've heard a lot of good things about it, and now I've finally gotten the chance to watch Creep. Now I'm not the biggest fan of found footage films, mainly because they pretty much end the same way with all of the main characters dying or disappearing which makes it hard for me to be invested in them...but I guess they wouldn't be found footage if that wasn't the case. It also didn't help that the late 2000's and early 2010's were chalk full of them. But there are a few that I actually do like so I decided to give this one a shot. So after giving it a watch, I ended up thinking it was ok. There's not a lot for me to say about this movie. The acting is decent, and the actor playing the character Josef (not Joseph with a ph apparently) was definitely the highlight of the whole thing. The first half isn't really that big on scares aside for these peek-a-boo type moments that were more annoying than scary. There are a few creepy shots, and the "story" Josef tells about his wife was pretty unsettling. In my opinion the movie really gets good near the last 30 minutes. There's also a few humorous moments that did make me laugh, so there's that. And finally the wolf mask Josef has (aka Peachfuzz) is pretty scary looking. Overall Creep is an ok movie. It's not one of my favorite found footage movies, but it was a decent watch.

dang mark duplass can be weird on oh such a great way
Honestly I wish dude still made off beat strange films like this and Hump Day because he's got such a knack for portraying affable, disturbed characters.

Creepy? Not so much.
I did like this movie, but it definitely did not live up to the name. As simple as Creep is, I was never really creeped out. I was expecting more, I guess, and it didn't fully deliver. So much more could have been done to make it REALLY creepy.
