I will be honest as I haven’t used many artisan shaving soaps so I can’t share an expert opinion like a true wet shaving connoisseur. A small amount of cream creates a rich, dense and luxurious lather enough for 3 passes. I use a Mühle R89 with it along with an Astra blade which glides through the lather without causing any irritation or razor burn. The scent isn’t my favourite but it’s subtle enough not to cause any discomfort to me. The post shave feel is fantastic; the skin feels smooth and well hydrated. Will definitely buy again in the future.

I had been using this product for the past one year..this is a repeat order. The product is awesome no doubt.. rich lather, perfect subtle aroma, personally I love it. The product shipped time however, was somehow not received in perfect shape and the content in the tub was all around (may be due to movement)

Excellent shaving cream. Just a tiny bit on your brush produces the required amount of lather. The fragrance is also very appealing.

Truefitt & Hill is a gentleman's grooming company established in 1805. To commemorate Lord Nelson's victory in battle Truefitt & Hill named one of their top fragrances for this occasion. This being Trafalgar. I mainly use the replacement soap that Truefitt & Hill sell for my wooden soap bowl I bought from them; however, when traveling this makes it rather awkward. Truefitt & Hill knows men are on the go, but still enjoy a great shave, so have created these wonderful soap jars to take with you on travel. As with the brick soap, these soap jars last a very long time; as you only need a small amount for a good thick lather, with a distinguishing scent that is rather haunting, and not overly strong. One jar of Truefitt & Hill shave soap, much like the brick soap by Truefitt & Hill lasts about as long as approx 8 or so aerosol cans of shave cream. I can judge this as my roommate uses aerosol shaving cream. Plus aerosol cans use a numbing agent which harm the skin later throughout the day unlike brick or jar soap by Truefitt & Hill. So its actually cheaper, smells better, better quality shave, and lasts longer. I prefer the Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar scent, however, all the scents by Truefitt & Hill are very good. It is just a matter of taste and preference of what one enjoyes. Trafalgar is a subtle, haunting rich scent of sandlewood, lavender,jasmine and other spices; blended nicely to be very appealing, but not over powering. Basically, just authorative and confident. One can honestly see why Truefitt & Hill named this fragrance after the Battle that Lord Nelson led England into victory. Also note, with the jar creams by Truefitt & Hill a shave brush is not needed although I still use mine when I need to travel and take my jar with me. You can easily use your finger tips, about the size of a US quarter 'or less' to massage on the face usually does the trick. With a true 'real quality' shave soap you don't need much, nor a huge lather either. The shave will make you almost become impatient for the next day as so you can shave again. The day is long and hard on every man, so why not give yourself something to start the day off with right? Something that also has a long history behind it as well. A last piece of information: I always purchase my Truefitt & Hill through [...] from The Grooming Lounge and will remain doing so. As I find The Grooming Lounge to be very fast with deliveries, plus packaging is beyond words by them. A good shaving is priceless; but a great seller who takes care of your shaving needs is also just as priceless. This is the absolute tops shave cream. Smells lovely and you doing need very much to provided excellent lather easily for more than one wet shave pass. Not cheap but we'll worth it and will last ages.

If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. I don't review often but this product deserves it , being unbelievably good. Firstly, don't be put off by the price tag. If you use it economically and mix up only what you need for a shave, you will find it can last many, many months. It produces the most velvety smooth and light lather which transforms the shaving experience for me; my Merkur razor just glides over the skin with this, it's such a pleasure to use. And being fragrance free, it won't clash with whatever after shave or eau de toilette you might like to use afterwards. Simply superb.
