Q: Is this dressing based upon the "thousand islands" that straddle the u.s./canadian border or the ones north of the island of java?

IIRC, the dressing was originally created at a restaurant on the "Thousand Islands" that straddle the US/ Canadian border before WW2. I think I saw this on a PBS travel show.
