It works as it should and I’m sure this happens with every brand of this product but it wore down the plastic on the cable that hold my tailgate from rubbing together. It’s not a deal breaker for me, trust me, it has saved my tailgate multiple times already in a couple months.

Don't Buy...Product failed on both ends upon installation. - Installation was straight forward and easy. However while connecting the piston one end piece popped right out the threads. And it was screwed all the way in. So, I thought maybe it was shipped wrong and I switched the ends around and they seemed tight. "problem fixed" Wrong! The other end popped off. Junk! Poorly made, Junk! Buy it own risk......Good luck. - (Truck) Dodge Ram1500. Update: So, today instead of ordering another brand kit, just for the piston. I decided to drill stright throw the failed end links, in order to secure the end links with screws. Still working with JUNK.....I suggest using another brand.

Installed it in about 5–10 minutes, and it’s been working great ever since. It really makes opening the tailgate much smoother and saves me from straining my elbows — especially first thing in the morning or after a long workday. I do wish it offered a little lift assist when closing, but for the price, it’s a solid upgrade that makes a big difference

I don’t do many reviews, but this product and company is great. For the price, and ease of installation, it’s worth it. I did have a slight issue where the shock retaining clip seems ‘sloppy’.. so I contacted the company directly in hopes that I could get a replacement clip. They responded promptly and offered to send a whole new shock! Within 1-2 days it was resolved and a new shock is on its way. Very happy customer.

It broke the first time I used / tested it. I contacted the manufacturer for support. It took some time and exchange of mails but, at the end, OMT sent me a replacement. The new part is working fine.

Used for a soft closed tailgate on a 2011 Dodge Ram. Easier to install as long as you follow the instructions. I'm a 65 year old female. Didn't take long to install it
