American Crew Men's Hair Matte Clay (OLD VERSION), Like Hair Gel with Medium/High Hold, 3 Oz (Pack of 1)

I’ve used dozens of products over the years, and American Crew Matte Clay is hands down the best. It provides a strong hold that lasts all day, and I love how it can be used on wet hair for more shine or dry hair for a matte finish making it extremely versatile. One thing I really love is that I can re-style my hair throughout the day without any residue or flakes. The texture it can give your hair is great — if you use less it’s more of a natural look. The puck is perfect for travel and for your vanity – it doesn’t take up much space at all. A puck will last months — so the value is amazing. I probably buy one every 10-12 weeks and I use it daily. It applies easily by using a small amount rubbing it on your palms. Overall, this product has exceeded my expectations and has been my go-to for everyday use over the past year or so.

I have tried maybe 10 different products, including the highly rated Layrite and Mitch clay's found here on Amazon, and this is by far the best product I have used to style my hair. You can apply it to dry, damp, or wet hair, it emulsifies easily, washes off hands and out of hair effortlessly, has the best hold no contest out of any product I have used, can easily be restyled by hand or with a comb/brush, the hold will last for a solid 2-3 days easily, it has a perfect matte finish, and it only has a very slight scent that smells exactly like real clay which isn't noticeable at all once applied in your hair. My only complaint is it's becoming harder to find in stores nowadays. I have only seen it in stock at Ulta recently. I hope this doesn't mean it's going to be discontinued. This is in my opinion the best product on the market and I highly recommend trying it!

The quality matched (if not exceeded) my expectations, and everything functioned as promised. On top of that, the price was very reasonable compared to similar options I looked at. I've been using American Crew Matte Clay in my hair for more than a decade. I bought it on a recommendation back when it was sold at Great Clips. Now I seek it out. My hair is very fine and lays flat on my head. This clay lets me add body to my hair without any greasiness or getting hard. It just feels like my natural hair. I wet my hair, then towel dry it before applying a very small amount to the palms of my hands. I then work my hands through my hair, making sure to get all the way to the roots. Then I style my hair like I want and it stays there. I can run my fingers through my hair without feeling like I'm going to mess it up or get stuff on my hands. Great product!

I have pretty thick hair, and usually wear it as a crew cut with a little over an inch long on the top and 1.5ish inch bangs that I usually style up and to the side. Because of the way my bangs are (thanks to genetics and a cow lick), I need something that has a strong hold on my hair. I'd previously used the Defining Paste, but after switching to the Matte Clay I don't think I'll be going back. This stuff has a good hold on your hair for only a bean-size amount, doesn't smell bad, and rubs without leaving clumps. The Defining Paste would always leave white clumps in my hair for me to comb out but the Matte Clay spreads way easier. Sometimes I wanna go for a more casual look, in which I'll put a smaller amount in and let it look natural, but for formal occasions you can put a lot in there and slick it to the side, and there's practically no shine whatsoever. It was to the point where friends of mine thought I got a haircut when I didn't wear it one day because they didn't even notice I used product. If you're looking for product with a low hold, I suggest you look elsewhere. My only concern is that you NEED shampoo (or that American Crew cleanser which I don't have) to fully wash it out of your hair - water just doesn't do the trick since the hold is so strong. I solved this by taking showers at night, but if you sleep with it still in, expect it to rub off on your pillowcase. I'd say it's worth it for the price, as I got it in September and I've only used about half so far after applying it five times per week.

I have thick wiry hair. This is clean and easy to style short or long hair. Not much perfume smell and is the best for my short style on the sides and spiky on top hairstyle. Looks like there is no product in your hair. Love that it is matt. Great easy hold all day too. Pricy but you dont need to use a lot. Excellent product. A+
