Does what it claims for my use case
Use case: outdoor pistol competition. 5 - 6hrs w/ minimal-to-zero shade in HI; summer here now so ~93 degF+ (34C) with 80-100% humidity. Several generations in HI so tan well, but still burn in these conditions... Claim: lightweight, quick to dry -- yes, can vouch for that, even as sweltery as it can be here in direct midday sun. Was having to constantly wring out a shemagh; now easily 1/4 the weight and drier to boot. Claim: UPF 50+ sun protection -- not a doctor nor an authority on skin cancer or UV exposure... but even shifting the buttons back over the ears & allowing two vents to exhaust out hot air and sweat out the back... didn't have half the tan reaction/burn w/ skin not properly slathered in sunscreen or under UV-blocking clothing. 6 hrs in the midday sun, constantly moving with only the cap, bill, and neck flap to protect my face and neck... does the job. Claim: LOL not the most English-literate ad copy writer... but it does absorb and dry sweat much better than a shemagh, long the standard for Afghanis and our coalition in the desert (also warms and protects your neck when it's brass-bra-cold there, which is why iColors aren't more popular there, I suppose :) ). If the ad claims waterproofing... we don't compete in rainy, muddy conditions for safety, but I'd say this claim isn't really 'marketable'... Note: I don't use the face mask -- in more temperate or dusty conditions, this would provide even more protection. Not to mention it all snaps apart for washing, then folds into itself for your pocket or range bag. Summary: Was using a cap-dome-mesh-vented, but conventional ball cap and a shemagh, and hating life. Saw a fellow competitor with one, and noticed he rarely had to do all the fussing around with it I was. For $12+shipping it was a no-brainer... Tips: For those who're using this for tasks like mowing the lawn or chainsawing trees (requiring ear protection)... take the two forwardmost snaps and move them 2 snaps rearward, so two vent openings appear in back. Safety-pin the center of the elastic portion of the flap, to the cap adjuster (see pic -- this doesn't appear to affect the amount *I* felt tanned or burned, and definitely improved comfort... but if you're fair-skinned and have to work outside at midday, may be better off snapping everything normally). This allows bulkier earpro (like my giant Pro Ears Gold 28dBs) to seal to the skin, rather than onto the flap laid over the ears. It also allows sweat/hot air from your neck to escape -- noticeably better both for earpro and comfort. :) For my use case (which I think may fit most potential customer use cases)... the price is reasonable -- getting more in this comfy, minimally-heating grey color, for the yard.

nice quality, functional hat
I bought this hat because a friend of mine had one, which she used on a hiking trip in France. It's nicely made, is very lightweight, and does a good job of protecting your head from the sun. I don't know if there are multiple versions of this hat, or if it's because I have a very large head (I have to set the adjustment strap to the largest possible position), but I have no issues with having a gaping hole in the back where the sun shines through. The neck flap completely covers the back of the cap, sealing out the sun, while letting air through. I like the foldable front visor. It makes the hat very compact when folded up. The visor is also very long, which blocks out the sun. I only have a few concerns: 1) the neck strap is held on by some tiny plastic clips which look like they might eventually break off, but it's hard to guess how durable they are. I don't plan to use the neck strap, anyway, so it's not a concern to me. 2) the face mask part is hard to attach/detach, but I have the same problem with all of the other similar hats I've tried. 3) the face mask is a rather tight fit for me, but again, my head is very large, so it might not be an issue for others. I don't know if it's water resistant or not, but I don't really care about that particular function. It's upsetting, though, that between when I saw the listing and when I ordered it 3 hours later, the price went up $3.

5 stars great hat
i love this hat. It covers everything Unfortunately there is only one button in front for the back/side flaps. I think it will cover the little area above top center of t-shirt/shirt, but will have to see A 2nd snap would cinch this together just so - I will try a little clip of some sort. Otherwise very impressive I can even see to the side (peripheral vision) with neck flap OR with both neck-flap and face sheild. Fantastic I chose the khaki (beige) color - I look good in this despite the fact that i don't normally look very good in khaki, as most people probably don't. They picked just the right shade. ! ;) One little thing, an 'almost-annoyance'. with the face-sheild on, you have to tug it just so, so that the cloth doesn't cut in too close to your eyes and slightly but NOTICEABLY AND ANNOYINGLY rug against eyelashes. If you tug it just so...NO problem. At least on my head -- 5'9" male, average sized head. Still, with everything on, good peripheral vision and I don't expect sunburn near the eyes -- as I said, they are cutting about as close to the eyes as they can without interfering. GREAT product, amazing price (imo). Love it so far. Now for the test walk and test run...

Keeps the Sun off.
I've had 14 cases of skin cancer and 4 surgeries in my neck in 14 months with 121 stitches. So I bought this had to keep the Sun off and it is the best. I tried other hats but won't stay on and can't keep all the sun out but this one works and I wear it when I'm outside working or walking the dog. Love it. :)
