Will this catch deer flies and horse flies?

No. House flys go for smell and color and are attracted to the smell of this trap the most while also preferring the black top. Horse (females), deer and yellow flys mainly go after sight targets and can actually be put off by smells of insecticide. I've had this trap around horses and it only caught the basic ones not the biters. One helper is if you have a patterned blanket for them it seems to confuse the targeting of the horse flys though bites still happen. They hunt prey for blood similar to female mosquitos (sight and CO2) so a basic setup that mimics that is effective. When we lived around horses the best one was a black target with netting and/or water to drown them. There is a trap from Bite-Lite here on Amazon. I haven't personally used it but it looks like the trap uses the same idea.

How many days/weeks/months it takes to notice a substantial drop in the amount of flies invading your space?

I have had the fly traps for about two weeks and now they are about half full of flies, time to add more water per instructions.

How long till the flies start becoming attracted and go in? I've had them hanging for three days where the flies are all day, none dead yet.

Put the trap in the sun-- the heat really activates the scent, and the flies are more active when it's warm. I hung two of these in the sun near my garbage cans and both were nearly full within a couple days.

How do you all dispose of this once the container is full of flies and maggots? Toss the entire container? It is seriously disgusting and I need tips

We wore gloves and dumped it in a a used mayo jar and tossed it in the garbage and then reused it with another pkg. Yes, its disgusting and smells, but thats why it works. We have less flies now and the second one is taking longer to fill.
