DELTA FAUCET T17430 Classic Tub & Shower, 4.45 x 8.00 x 10.15 inches, Chrome

I was excited to be able to control volume and temperature, the main reason for this purchase. After 1.5 years, it still looks nice. However, the plastic components in the handle assembly seem weak. The temperature adjustment handle requires significant force to overcome the static friction to make adjustments. This was frustrating for the children. After 6 months or so, the temperature adjustment handle worked itself loose, I was able to successfully tighten it again with the stainless steel screw, but it worked itself loose again. The first set of O-ring seals became damaged after about a year and led to the inability to close the valve completely---drip drip drip out of the tub spout. I was able to replace the O-ring assembly fairly easily, but the dripping has started again 6 months later. I am going to call Delta and request a replacement with a simple version that is compatible with the valve body. Bummer, I was hoping for more.

I remodel bathrooms for a living and the Delta 17 series has been my go to shower valve for most basic projects for some time. I recommend it because of the separate volume and temp controls which make it safer for kids and old folks. Once the temperature lever is set, all you have to do is open the volume control and the water comes out at the same temperature each time. It installs easily and works reliably It is great to find a supplier who can get me the parts I need at the right price in 48 hours. Why bother going to the plumbing supply shop and paying 50% more?

I felt like I was running around in the shower to get wet. Changed out this rather expensive faucet with a style that allows more gallons per minute, and I feel like I actually taking a proper show again. This faucet proved worthless and too late to return it now.

I bought this to replace a delta monitor from the mid 90s that came with my house. It's a really good looking shower that works perfect in my guest bathroom. Installation was a little bit of a problem only because I had to upgrade my old cartridge. Other than that this thing was installed in 45 minutes.
