Factory part Exact match
My LG microwave quit working after 6 years of use. Found out that the Magnetron went bad. Did the check on the old one but checked out good. Ordered the new one and this was an exact match. Fit right in and would you know it, it now works perfectly good. Hopefully it last another 6 years.

Who knew a magnetron was so easy to replace?
Had a magnetron failure years ago, sudden loud buzz and the whole thing appeared to die. Conventional wisdom then was that even the pros thought it too dangerous to fool around with. Fast forward to a few days ago, when our Kenmore microwave sounded off with a loud buzz (but kept operating - minus creating microwaves). Hit the stop button, pulled the plug, then told my wife that the magnetron just failed and the oven could not be repaired. Commenced shopping online for a new oven, but was not finding a satisfactory replacement. Just out of curiosity, I plugged in my model number to see what parts were available. I expected to find fuses, turntables and so forth. Imagine my surprise finding magnetrons for sale. Some more searching revealed videos showing how easy it is to replace one. I even found a video showing how to do the job on a microwave nearly identical to mine. There were lots of cautions about the potential dangers of encountering high voltage stored in the fat capacitor near the magnetron. More searching revealed that a correctly operating capacitor should discharge itself over a period of a day or two (do it yourself discharging of that thing can be done, but just reading about it scared me). I gambled that being unplugged for the four days between ordering and installing should be plenty for the capacitor to self discharge - and it did. It took more time to get the cabinet back on than to remove the cabinet and replace the magnetron. Total time was only about 30 minutes. Microwave is performing like new and is quieter (if you are noticing that your microwave seems to be louder than it used to be, the magnetron is likely dying - consider a preemptive replacement, or at least order up a new one to be ready). BTW, seller Martin Microwave is an excellent choice to insure that you get the exact item (some reviews here cite differences in the part numbers received from other sellers).

LG Magnetron 2M246-01TAG Actual Unit Shipped. Do Not be misled by 2M246-050GF picture.
I feel as though I was misled by the 050GF pictured unit. Upon receiving the 2M246-01TAG from this vendor, I see now that if you cycle through the pictures for their unit you will see other part numbers. I ordered my second replacement from this vendor as the picture shows a 2M246-050GF. The LG Magnetron 2M246-01TAG is available from other vendors at a lower cost.I have had my LG LMV2031 microwave for 6 years. The original magnetron was a 2M246-050GF. After 3 years that magnetron failed. I ordered a replacement and received a LG Magnetron 2M246-01TAG from another vendor. This worked fine for another 3 years. I researched the 2M246-01TAG version three years ago and it appeared to be a valid replacement. Loose heatsink fins on the defective magnetrons seems to indicate they overheated and are now defective. The new units fins are not loose.
