Excellent product that does for me what it’s designed to do.
Excellent product, for what it is and purports to be. I have a torn medial meniscus, patellar malalignment and osteoarthritis in my left knee. Before I got this brace, climbing and descending stairs was very painful and my knee felt very unstable just when I walked on flat ground. After about three weeks of wearing this brace at all times except when I sleep and shower, I can now walk and climb and descend stairs pain-free, so long as I’m wearing the brace. In fact, I’ve done a couple of 10-mile moderately difficult hikes wearing it, with no pain. And I can now ride a bike. It’s not a $500 Unloader Brace, so I don’t know that continuing to wear it is going to enable any of my conditions to heal. But it does provide some vertical support, and regular use of it for 3 weeks enabled me to return to my usual low impact activities. While I’m wearing it I no longer have pain or instability.I’m 67 and don’t do high impact activities anymore, so I don’t know whether it would enable me to do them.Sizing: Based on the size guide on Amazon, I bought a Medium. On my bare leg it fits perfectly, and comfortably. But it’s too small to enable me to put it on over jeans or any but the thinnest pants. So you may want to order up a size.

Disappointed it was too small.
Item seemed to be well made and probably would be very helpful. My therapist picked this particular one. Unfortunately it didn't come any larger that an XXL. Therefore, I had to order an item very similar but a different brand.

Very well made
A friend of mine that is a physical therapist recommended to get a Don Joy brace. I got this one. One on it is comfortable and very firm. It is about twice the thickness of a similar brace I purchased a while ago. I think the extra thickness contributes to the firmness and stability as well the comfort. I would easily get another one.My only positive that isn't positive is that it's a bit of pain to get on compared to other braces. I feel like I need another hand or someone else to do it. It is mostly the nature of the brace, but a bit the location of the velcro. But once it is one it is very comfortable and seems to protect the knee.

Size Chart Incorrect to Fit & Does Not Stay Put
I had a very similar prescription brace many years ago after a surgery that performed perfectly and lasted several years. This one lasted one day of dog agility runs ,which totals about 6 minutes of actually running. According to the measurements I purchased the correct size & should have had some room to spare, and yet it took all my might to very barely get it to wrap around and close. Also there is a very thin piece of ribbon that is a guide for the strap to go through. One of them was loose upon arrival and after a couple of runs it totally fell off. After that the Velcro strap at the top would move around. I cinched it tourniquet tight for my final two runs and after 30 seconds it ended up falling down around my ankle! I think that was the result of the upper strap being unable to stay put. More sturdy material really well sewn would make a huge difference, in addition to changing the size chart. Obviously I am returning it and am very disappointed.

Incredibly effective
Diagnosis: fractured medial meniscusI had to stop running and most gym activities and stick to cycling and rowing. After a period of 'no sport' while I waited for the delivery (which was flawless) I started gradual reahabilitation with the brace. No pain, no discomfort, after 5 or 10km run at 5:10 to 5:30 pace the knee feels as if I'd just woken up and got out of bed - fresh and ready for another run. The only issue is that the brace is not side specific - it happens that when it's used on the right knee you can accidentaly unstrap it during the run. Also in some places adjustments need to be made to cover the tiny places where hard plastic velcro stuck out from beneath the soft material. Other than that no issues whatsoever, a great piece of equipment that put me back on track.

As advertised, but doesn't work well for me
This brace has decent support and is well made. The reason for my 3-stars are the following. If these things aren't issues for you, then I'm sure this brace will serve you well.I have a completely severed PCL from a roller derby injury 5 years ago. Since I was retiring anyway, there was no point in having expensive surgery to repair the tear since it doesn't inhibit daily mobility. However, I now play a lot of racquet sports and do kickboxing occasionally and find that I need the stability and support of a brace for those activities.Downsides of this brace for me were:• Posterior closure. I needed a butterfly flap style closure; I have large thighs and pull-on braces do not fit. This is indeed a flap closure, but it closes in the back. That's difficult to do well and get good alignment when you're having to fully bend over, pull tightly, and overlay flaps you can't see.• Velcro straps get caught on clothing. Because I wear this on my right knee and because these are not knee specific, the velcro straps that wrap around (after closing the posterior flaps) end up between my thighs (on the upper portion). The straps are not low-profile; instead they have a big thick tab on the end and this constantly gets rubbed by my left leg causing the tab to open and get stuck to my left leg (the sticky side of the velcro is on the thick tab). I have to adjust and re-stick several times during an hour-long game.• Because of the above, I often feel like the brace isn't positioned correctly. I end up twisting it to try to get the tab to not open all the time and this results in the brace not being well aligned.• The stabilizing strips aren't as firm/thick as my old brace. The strips that run vertically along the sides of the leg (off the hinges) feel a lot more flexible than my old brace (that had been worn so much the sleeve was falling apart). This is likely fine for most people, but it feels too "squishy" for me with my injury and the activities I'm using it for.
