Works great. Easy to install. Don't buy two, it works best with just one on the drive side. I installed two and had two issues. First, the tail gate went down too slow and didn't open all the way unless I pushed it down the last 25%. The main issue with having one on the passenger side was that as the tailgate opened, it would push away and start to come off. I popped the second one off and have it for when the other one fails. So, I would definitely recommend getting one of these and installing it on the driver side, which is what the company expect you to do. The mounting bracket is designed for the passenger side. The only reason I bought two was some reviews I read mentioned it. You only need one. Works great.

I added a rear camera to my truck, but after my tailgate fell down hard, it messed up the camera system. After replacing the camera, I figured that adding a tailgate assist might help slow it down to prevent damage to the camera. After installing the assist kit, it works wonderfully! My kids even appreciate that I don’t have to slam the tailgate anymore.

Works as described but the instructions are a little unclear on the fact that the screw and washers that come inserted in the blind nut is actually the set tool for the blind nut and is not used after installation. Quick 10 minute install.

This works well on my 2011 Chevy 2500. The pictures in the instructions were a little difficult to make out, but it can really be installed only one way. Nifty little tool included to get a sure-fire, solid bracket installation.

Easy install, cool to not have tailgate fall down

For some reason on my 2008 duramax 3500hd dually i had to grind down the curved part of the lower shock bracket that bolts to the tailgate in order for the bolt hole to line up. I had to basically cut out a quarter inch or more section of that curved part that butts against the tailgate. Wasn't difficult being that I had the tools so I will still give 5 stars cause the price was nice. 😁

I just received and installed this on my 2014 Chevy Silverado after seeing a buddy of mine who had one on his new truck. The written installation instructions that come with this aren't fantastic and the photos are pretty dark and kind of hard to see what/where it is they are talking about, however, if you search online for a video regarding tailgate assist shock installation, there are a few out there that are less than 5 minutes and extremely helpful. After watching one of those it took me all of 10 minutes to install this, and that includes walking back into the house to get the wrench I left sitting in my workshop. The thing I am disappointed with, and the reason I took a couple of stars off, is that unlike my buddy's truck, my tailgate still drops the first half with no real arrest or slow down - the shock really kicks in about the 1/2 way point and then slowly drops it the rest of the way. This is certainly better than nothing so I won't be uninstalling and returning it, but it didn't meet my expectations and I think people should realize that it doesn't lower your tailgate slowly all/most of the way.
