My wife was trying to talk me out of getting a new battery for our old Cannon HD recorder. But you can buy a camera as sturdy as my Cannon HD today. And my camera has good optics with an actual large zoom lens (not digital) built inside. Although this battery sticks out a bit further than the original, it works great and has more charging time than the original ever did. For what I use it for like recording sports games with zoom it has brought my old Cannon back to life.

I bought this to replace the stock battery on my Canon Vixia HF200 as a full charge was only allowing 70min of recording time. STK's Canon BP-819 Battery fits the camcorder great and sticks out about half an inch on the back (as expected due to larger capacity = larger battery) it is not very noticeable though and doesn't add much weight. It charges through the camcorder same as the stock battery and after a full charge the display shows 175min of battery life (2.5 times the stock battery). Overall, I'm very satisfied and happy with this purchase. Pros: -Fits the camcorder (Canon Vixia HF200) -Charges using the stock charger -Displays the battery life on the camcorder display -Holds 2.5 times the charge of my stock battery Cons: -Not really a con, but its bigger than the stock battery, but all high capacity batteries are larger, so it should be expected.

Comes charged at 75%. Charged it up to 100%. Good to go. What's really amazing is that the Canon HG21 camcorder still works. It's about 16 years old. Impressed.

I charged this battery overnight before first using it. In the morning it reported something like 120 minutes of battery life, way less than the original Canon, but whatever...it's a cheap Chinese imitation. I used it for the day at SeaWorld and noticed that it was discharging a lot more than the amount I had the camera on and recording. It got down to 20 minute left. I didn't want to discharge it all the way, since I've heard that this damages Li-Ion batteries, so I stopped using it for the day. That night, I charged it overnight at the hotel. The next morning, the red light was still blinking indicating it was charging and it reported only 20 minutes left. Last night when we got home, I charged it again, overnight. Same result, red light still blinking in the morning, 20 minutes of battery left. I am returning it now. It's pretty frustrating. I bought the Canon BP-819 in Dec. 2010 for $79 when I bought the camcorder. The Canon battery was out of stock last week when I was looking to buy a new one. I just noticed it's in stock, but now for $99. I have not had the camera for 4 years yet and it's hard to find a quality battery to replace the old one.

I ordered a battery for my camcorder from Sterling,Tek and when it arrived I did not realize I needed a charger because my last battery charged when the camera was plugged in so I called the company and explained my situation and what happened next was above and beyond anything I ever expected, first I left a message which I figured would never get answered boy was I wrong they called me back within 24 hours and I explained my situation that I had a battery and needed a charger no fault of theirs I just did not know this was a different type of battery,They apologized (not their fault)and and immediately sent me a charger and 2 additional batteries (unbelievable customer service)everything arrived within 2 days of speaking at no additional cost to me. Armando the rep took care of everything on the money just great service these guys really get it great company, excellent product, and 5 star customer service why would anyone buy from anyone but these guys... So far, so good. It's impossible to tell how a new battery will work in the long run, but this works as an exact replacement for my Canon battery. This one seems to be holding a charge, gives me more minutes than my original smaller Canon battery, and the camera recognizes it and shows me the battery information. I'm getting about double the minutes, which is good for the price but doesn't reflect the stated difference in capacity. I'm not implying that Canon doesn't make good batteries, but sellers compete on price. Many who are selling Canon batteries at a big discount are selling old stock, while a third party battery is more likely to be new. The Canon batteries I had were the ones that came with the cameras and they never held a charge very well. I have no idea if it's because my original Canon equipment sat on shelves for a long time before it was sold or if there's another reason, but I do know that this non-OEM battery works well (so far) and gives me more for my money. If you do buy a genuine Canon battery, get one from a reputable seller such as Amazon and be prepared to pay more.

UPDATE: These batteries are still going strong so I just added the fifth star. –– So far, so good. I'm giving four stars after only a few weeks of use until I see how they hold up. The batteries function normally with full and accurate information showing in my Canon Vixia camcorder. They charge fully whether in the wall charger or on the camera. The 2700mAh rating provides a bigger boost in recording time over the previous set of 2200mAh Wasabi batteries than I had anticipated. Canon's 890mAh battery that came with the camera, though smaller and form-fitting, was completely inadequate. Both previous batteries started failing after about 8 months of use. If the STK batteries last more than 8 months I'll gladly add the fifth star.

Battery is larger than the original but also lasts longer.
