Peak fiction
What can I say? It’s SMT 3. Great, classic, super hard.

This Game is Awesome
Didn’t like it as much as SMT IV, but amazing game. A bit of a drag sometimes, and totally unfair, but that’s part of the Shin Megami Tensei experience. It’s a game from the PS2, i wasn’t expecting amazing graphics. Things were just upscale is all. Unfortunately, some of the animated cutscenes are in the 4:3 ratio, and that wasn’t fixed in this remaster so a bit disappointing. Either way, I would definitely recommend

Recommended very much!
Amazing. I prefer the tone, atmosphere and overall story much more the SMT5V.

A devilishly good remaster - Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD will capture your soul!
As a long-time fan of the Shin Megami Tensei series, I was ecstatic to hear about the release of the HD remaster of Nocturne. And let me tell you, it does not disappoint! The graphics have been completely overhauled to make them crisp and clear on the PlayStation 4, and the new features and upgrades bring a fresh perspective to an already fantastic game. The game has also been fully voice acted, which is a welcome addition that adds a whole new layer of immersion to the experience. One of the most impressive aspects of this game is the storytelling. The plot is dark, intriguing, and will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The characters are well-developed and memorable, and the dialogue is engaging and thought-provoking. But let's not forget about the gameplay! The battle system is challenging yet rewarding, and the demon recruitment system is as addictive as ever. It's a testament to the game's quality that it has stood the test of time and is still a joy to play all these years later. In conclusion, Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster is a must-have for fans of the series and newcomers alike. It's a devilishly good remaster that will capture your soul and leave you wanting more. Highly recommended!

Amazing Game With Technical Quirks
I have both the original PS2 version and the PS4 Remaster. I'll be coming back to the Remaster whenever I want to revisit this game as the ability to choose what skills to pass down during fusion makes the game a TON more manageable (it was randomized from the pool of skills that the "parents" had). I also appreciate the fact that they gave some characters voiced lines during some cutscenes. However, I did notice some hiccups in the performance department. 1) I noticed that the screen sometimes flashed black for a frame when going through the initial hospital "dungeon". This stopped happening once I got to Ginza. 2) There was noticeable screen tearing when I was running around in circles while in Ikebukuro (was running around to make the Kagutsuchi phase Full so I could do Sacrificial Fusion). I didn't encounter this issue elsewhere yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened elsewhere. 3) Lastly, the music is compressed. From what I remember from reading the news, it's because Atlus lost the uncompressed files. Losing source files seems to be a common issue with classic games for some reason as Square Enix lost the source files to the original Kingdom Hearts game back when they made the HD Remasters of that series and Nintendo relied on a ROM of Super Mario Bros. when releasing the game on the Virtual Console. Programmers REALLY need to use Source Control software software like SVN and Git so they can release better remasters in the future. I bought this game at its original price of $49.99 and I don't regret it. However, I should've waited until it dropped to its current price (at least current by the time that I am writing this review) of $34.99 as that price is much more appropriate for this remaster (Atlus used Unity as a wrapper engine for this release so they could port it onto several platforms). I definitely recommend it at this price as Nocturne is an interesting experience! Also, the Press Turn system should be used in every RPG due to how intuitive it is. Did you get a crit or a super effective hit? You only use half a turn. Did you miss or have your attack get blocked? You use two turns. Did your attack heal the opponent? You lose all of your turns. It really makes you have to think about what works best in each fight, which isn't something I say often about random encounters or bosses in other RPG franchises.

The only JRPG that X-Play gave a 5 out of 5
Despite it being just a “Remaster”, or upscaling of the original with some Quality of Life additions, any opportunity to replay the best JRPG the PS2 (a console that was LOADED with legendary JRPGs) had to offer is one I’ll gladly take up. And no, the “Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry Series” DLC isn’t a dealbreaker since it’s optional and the fact this game comes in with the JP-Only Raidou Kuzunoha in his place is something worth purchasing the game for. If you’ve ever played Persona 5 and wondered why the MegaTen series is so beloved…start here.

Jokes aside, if you played any Shin Megami Tensei but didn't play this one. Pick it up right now! You won't regret it. It feels a bit old school but the premise and story is so good and you are missing out by skipping this game. Played it back then on ps2 and this is the remaster it deserves. Man was I giddy when I they announced the remaster of this masterpiece and man does it stand the test of time and was totally worth the buy.

Had this on PS2 when it came out, and was happy to have it back for current gen consoles
