what does "*18/10 Stainless Steel" mean?

that's the percentage of chromium & nickel in the stainless steel. it is shinier than 18/0 stainless, which is another popular "food grade" stainless steel. basically, it's a good material for this application because it has good corrosion resistance, is easy to sanitize, and is shiny (yay!).

I just purchased a primula stainless steel expression maker and it does not have nor does it mention using silicon gaskets. Are they needed?

Yes it needs the silicone gasket and there should be one with it you can purchase them as well. I have had mine for a year now and have not had to replace the gasket as of yet however when I first purchased it I did order replacements as well. I got set of 3 for 2.50 off of amazon, my original silicone has last this far. It needs seal because it's help when the pressured water boils. Please check again it's like a pale white almost clear rubber ring, additional ones I purchased are solid white. I hope that helps and I was not too wordy. Enjoying the cup of joe

Just bought one. How do you make it make good krema?

Personally, I prefer Coffee Bean Direct. I have tried several of their roasts and have never been disappointed. Their . com is very user friendly and if you feel comfortable with an espresso roast, they have one called Godfather's Italian Espresso (yes from the movie, Lol) and there are memorable pictures on it. The reviews were enough to sell me because I love a good dark roast. Sorry I'm late, looking for a Moka pot to make my birthday cheesecake next month. Need a lot of espresso.
