If you want something for small kids player nerf this works great. If looking for something for Airsoft, please read on…. While is not the best protective vest for kids playing Airsoft, it will work as a cost effective starter to see if they are going to get into it before spending a lot more on a real one. If you are looking for a kids tactical vest, you may find that they can be hard to come by other than the Rothco cross draw style, which my son really didn’t like since he wanted a ‘realistic’ looking one. I didn’t like it either. Anyway, he isn’t a super aggressive player so wasn’t to rough on it & it held up for 3 months of playing once or twice a week outdoors. I connected a double mag pouch to it with molly webbing & that worked fine, but nothing is stitched so it has started to fray a little, especially in the shoulders. The cords on the front are pretty useless and are really only there for looks which he said were more in the way than anything else when trying to use it for Airsoft purposes. Side are open which gives no protection to the ribs but the clips work well and it’s really easy to get on and off. I will say when it was really hot during the summer he said it wasn’t to hot to wear and was way cooler than the bigger rental ones. Padding is decent in the front and back, probably 1/4 inch soft foam. For a size reference point, he’s 5’1’’ and about 75 lbs and I feel like it’s starting to get a little small on him but still definitely fits him. I eventually found one in a local shop in his size that’s a real deal one with all the double stitching and covers his sides as well, but that was about $80 so again as a cheap starter, this will work to get you started. He still uses this one to play around in the house and wants to keep it in case one of friends gets the courage to play

My 8yo loves this thing. It runs small and there's no place to insert plates, but it is also just a toy. He's already outgrowing it. He wears size 10-12 clothes. Hopefully that'll help you decide if it's going to be too small for your kid.

Shoulder straps fray very easily. But overall great product. My boys but love playing military with them.
