does the bottom off this parasol fit into a normal round base or is the bottom crossed

Yes it does fit into a round base, as long as you have one of the larger bases with a 50mm hole, as the pole is 48mm in diameter. Same goes for any tables you might want to set it in. I would also make sure that the base is heavy enough or that you add extra weights. If it is free standing I would reccomend you use the supplied cross based with appropriate weights.
