No the vertical wall rails are not included and not cheap!

As hard as it is to believe, there are NO wall brackets (the vertical ones with the slots) as shown in the picture. I had to order two at $17 apiece and it set my project back a week to wait for them. Geez. Other than that it's a solid system.

I assume it doesn't come with the runner brackets that attach to the wall? It says 4 shelf brackets, 2 shelves, and a hanger bar... Can the hanger bar be broken into two?

I do not think it can be "broken" in two! I believe it will come as showen.
