This book is a great quick start guide for people who are interested in ham radio.
This book is both for beginners and amateur radio enthusiasts. I love how the author discussed about the most common concepts within ham radio, and why they are important. Also, I love how the author gave some applications using real world ham radio scenarios. This book is very straightforward. It was written in a way that readers would find it easier to understand. You can look for more in depth information online or offline and you can also take a leap using the information provided in this book and learn as you go. It's completely up to you. This book is a great quick start guide for people who are interested in ham radio.

The information is excellent. However
The information is excellent. However, the book is sorely in need of editing. There are many mistakes in spelling and sentence structure that are very obvious to the reader.

Interested in HAM
Looking for information to get started. The Author doesn't speak over your head and goes into a lot of subject matter. I was able to follow it without feeling lost. Answered a lot of my questions.I would recommend as a start here manual. Just what I was looking for.

Poorly written
The author really needed an editor. I am not sure that English is Mr. Campbell's native language; that would not have been a problem with a proper editor to refine the language. I don't know enough about ham radio to know whether his advice is sound; to some extent the information gets lost in the poor writing.

Run, Run Away, Far and Fast
It would be more readable if the author had gone to school and taken an English class. The book is replete with sentence fragments that go no where and lose their intended meaning, or if you are lucky you can figure out what he was trying to say. Many times he uses an incorrect word in the sentence. Many of the mistakes could have been caught and some even corrected by MS Word. The content is sorely lacking to substantiate the claim of a "Quick Start." The syntax reminds me of a document written in a foreign language and then computer translated. For some unknown reason the author varies the type size and spacing which is normally used for emphasis or quotes, etc. The table in the back of the book lists abbreviations, but it was not sized properly and the right most column is missing some of the words explaining the abbreviation. Instead of reformatting the long list of abbreviations to fit the page, the author fails to sequence the column alphabetically by page but column one continues down the left side for several pages, and then he starts column two back at the beginning and it streams in that same position page after page. Not only is it difficult to describe, but it is difficult to follow the alphabet over four separate pages. There are also several pages with nothing on them. Wasted. This book will not enlighten you in the least. Skip it. Get a real book.
