I own over 50 guitars - that does not make me a good player - It DOES make me a bragger and it means I know something about guitars. I have been an avid and engaged player since 1976 - I still practice well over 10 hours a week, and still not that good, but I do know a good guitar when I play one.You never truly know when they will come....I have a SQUIRE Telecaster that is absolutely one of my top 5 guitars - it was perfect and it just feels right and plays and sounds right. I have a $3,000 Charvel that was truly poor out of the case and required a fair bit of work (not just basic setup) to get it right - now it is a very nice guitar.This particular guitar I am reviewing was just awesome out of the box...the bridge needed 5 minutes of adjustment due to a G string "twang" but that was very simple...I cannot put this guitar down. I love the pickups and the array of sounds...it is not my most expensive Charvel, but could be my favorite. I love the neck shape and the locking tuners - I am not a fretwork snob - I don't care about edges and crowns and whatnot as long as they are not cutting my fingers or slotted, I am good to go. This one seems fine. The neck was true without too much relief and the not slots and setup was very good. This was a concern becasue of the 9 Telecasters I bought, the Mexico MFG units had mild to severe nut slot issues and string alignment issues. The combination of pickups the put in here is, too my tastes, fantastic and I absolutely love the no load tone pot - i do not love the low friction volume pot, but an O-Ring will fix that.This is a great guitar and will instantly become a favorite and regular for gigging.
