Awesome product. I love the smell of the rugged but the original is great too. It lasts all day and washes out easily. It leaves my hair feeling moisturized and can be used as a skin balm as well. A little goes a long way so I don’t find myself buying it as much as the water based stuff.

Honestly, this is not a bad product. I cannot tell you how many different pomade’s I have used, and I do have my preferences, but I wanted to step out of my comfort zone a little bit this time. The smell of this is fantastic. I thought my usual pomade was the best smelling one, but this is just as good. And it’s not strong at all, I don’t get why I’ve seen more than one person say it gives them a headache. This is a pleasant natural scent with not a whole lot of projection on it. Second, everyone keeps saying it’s greasy. What did you expect? It’s oil based. And yeah, it’s a little greasy but it’s nowhere near as greasy as you folks made it sound. I got Johnny slicks because I go for a “greased” look. I can’t understand why someone would buy this product if they didn’t want a slick shiny product in their hair lol. The reason I went with this product is because I usually use a water-based pomade from another company. And water-based pomade, in the current freezing temperature, basically turn into a brick on my head. I wanted a product that would still be pliable in the cold, and not crunchy helmet head. So this product has thus far delivered on what I was looking for. People are complaining about the hold. It literally said low/medium hold on it. And that’s going to depend on 1. Your hair and 2. The amount of product you use. I guess if you’re considering Johnny slicks original oil based pomade…you need to first decide what you want your hair to actually look like. If you want a dry looking silky hold, then no, this isn’t the product for you. If you have long hair, no, this isn’t really going to keep your hair in place. If you’re trying to slick back your hair and have a nice shine to it but you also don’t want helmet head, as i do, I recommend this product. Will purchase again, and we will see how it holds up in the heat, I doubt it will hold very well, so I may have to go back to my other product in the summertime

I love it when taking a chance with a new hair product works out! It's euphoric as soon as you open the jar and take a whiff! The natural aromas of tobacco, cedarwood, and juniper berries really come through and are lovely! It's a mix of quality natural ingredients that condition whatever it touches and has a good hold on your hair without making it rigid. Use by itself to style dry or wet hair for a slick sheen, with a blow dryer for more of a matted finish, or a combination of both. When I'm done styling my clean hair, I don't wash it off my hands but rub it all over them because the natural oils and wax are perfect for moisturizing skin protection too. My only pseudo complaint is that it will be very costly to use this product over time since I will blow through and need to replace a 4 oz. jar regularly enough to add up to a good chunk of change, however many other pomade products are comparable in price but only offer 2 oz. jars, so JS is still a better buy across the board.

Johnny Slicks is an amazing product. No flaking, no sticky or gummy feel, and even looks better as the day goes on. Absolutely perfect for my thick and curly hair.
