FotodioxPro LED 28x28 Studio-in-a-Box for Table Top Photography - Includes Light Tent, Integrated Dimmable LED Lights, Carrying case and Four backdrops

As someone starting an online store selling small to mid-size collectibles, this is the perfect solution for good lighting on product inventory photos. The build quality is a little lacking in a couple minor ways but not enough to matter, because of how well this product overall filled the need I had. For example, there are areas where important velcro strips are partly covered up by overflow of material, or where the sewing of the velcro is less than stellar, but these are minor defects.The main problem I've had with it is that the LED lighting in the top forms the outline of square. When photographing some kinds of reflective objects, such as objects with polished spherical features, the bright square outline is reflected onto them and this looks unnatural and even confusing at times. It would be better if the LEDs filled an area instead of tracing the outline of a square. This is not a problem for most objects, though - it only affects high reflective, curved surfaces that basically act as a mirror to the roof of the enclosure. For polished spheres, I plan to use this with the top open and a different light source, perhaps a soft box I will buy separately.Having a proper camera is also important for this product to work well for you in the long term. In particular, you are going to want one that has a good amount of optical zoom. An iPhone, for example, shoots at such a wide angle that you have to be very close to the object for good resolution, which begins to include too much of the interior of the box and intrusive inclusions or reflections of the sides and so forth. So, I would caution against thinking that this product alone, plus a modern cell phone camera, will solve your photography needs. It might, depending on what you want, but I doubt it if you're really looking for the best shots. That is not a criticism of the quality of this product, just a caution that you should be prepared to include it as one part of a full solution that also includes a proper camera with a strong zoom lens. I use a 70-300mm telephoto lens and a DSLR with this box most of the time and I've been really happy with my results.

I hardly ever review products but this one deserves a review. I got the 28" version & it went together in less than a minute & is super easy to use. The colored backdrops seem nice quality and make shooting a breeze.

This is a good product. It's well made, and both easy to put together and fold back up for storage when not in use. The quality is solid, and it's actually a clever way to make a light box. It helps to produce quality pictures of non-reflective items and products. For that type of thing, I can't see finding a better, more portable and convenient light box. The LED's offer plenty of light, and with the included diffuser, it does a good job of providing an even, soft light. My only issue with this product, and this is a big drawback for me, is that it doesn't work well when photographing jewelry, watches or other highly reflective objects. Having all the light at the top of the box, and the interior entirely reflective just bounces too much light for shiny objects. Unfortunately, the diffuser, and even an added layer of diffusing material doesn't remedy that problem. While doing watch photography, I had to use 5 or 6 black flags and a couple of bounce cards because there simply isn't enough control of the light when it comes from one spot at the top of the box. A translucent soft box with lights at the sides and above that you can move and adjust outside a box provide for more flexibility when photographing watches and jewelry. If you're looking to do more than eBay photos of watches and jewelry I'd suggest going a different route than this product, but otherwise it's a very good product and I think well worth the relatively reasonable cost.

Bought this for taking pictures for my eBay account. Works perfectly as described lights up item very well but I still use a external flash (430EXII) with my Canon DSLR. I only use this with the front half open due to the bad reflections on items the liner of the box. This is not a big deal but sometimes looks weird in the photo without photoshopping. I only had one issue with this box was when hanging the provided backdrops. The backdrops only have 2 small 0.5x0.5 pieces of velcro to hang to the top of the box in the left and right corner. They would come off daily and my backdrop would be hanging off and roll itself back. So I bought a strip of velcro from Amazon and fixed this issue. So I taped the female velcro on the box side all across the top and the male side across the top on the backdrop. I bought this thing and love it. I use it for table top photography and shooting small items I may help friends advertise. It's the perfect size to fit almost anything handheld in. I did a shoot and fit an entire birthday cake in it.The issues I have is putting this together and carrying this thing.. I wish there was a way to carry everything including the different color backgrounds in one container. I still use the actual box it came in.To set it up will require you to focus and pay attention. After you do it a couple of times you will get used to it.Great value for the price.

I’ve been in the eCommerce business for over 10 years. Through the years, we have used light tables, backdrops, diffused sunlight, you name it. No matter what I tried there were challenges. Then I bought a Fotodiox Pro box. Using this studio box, with some extra fill lighting produces perfectly lit shots. The combined light is white and full. There are no shadows. It's genuinely impressive.I also discovered a photo app called Smart Shooter that simplifies the photographic end of the business. I set my Nikon D90 on a tripod. Run a USB cable to the computer. From there, all the camera controls get handled on my 27” iMac. I can control Aperture, Shutter speed, ISO, Focus, and Shutter release. After the shot's taken, the images get uploaded straight to my computer. It’s so simple!This setup is a going to be a total game changer for our business. The Fotodiox Pro along with photo-tethering software makes it easy to control every aspect of the photo shoot. The results have blown me away. Thank you for a wonderful product!

Just got the 16X16 yesterday, and I love it! A nice consistent light source and environment for shooting jewelry pictures. I didn't use the included backdrops, but if I can get them to flatten out a bit I might. I just used a white velvet that I had, and shot over 400 pics last night for web store, and they all came out great! This along with a good camera, good tripod, and good macro lens seem to the be the key to taking great product photos. Once you have the camera and tripod zeroed in, and your focus field set, all you have to do is move the product into the field, final little focus, and click. Switch product, and do it again. Makes things go much faster, and with a more consistent and better outcome.

I really needed a light box to photograph my jewelry for sale on Etsy. This does allow me to do that. However, a couple of things prevent me from giving it a higher rating.1. The LED lights are on one side of the light box only. This creates shadows. I will have to buy additional lighting to compensate for that and I wanted this to be an all-in-one solution. Adding a strip of lights to the opposite side and the inside top would make this the ideal light box. You can see the shadows in my attached photos.2. I have a very difficult time getting the back drop to stay attached. My solution was to open the entire lid, attach the backdrop to the Velcro, and then close the lid. Not a big thing I guess, but it's certainly not a "quick change".3. The cord from the power supply to the light box could be longer. My light box sits on a standard height desk directly in front of the wall plug, but because the cord is so short between the power supply and the light box, I had to place Velcro strips on the back side of the desk and the power supply so that I could keep it out of the way of the light box. Otherwise, the power supply hangs from the box down the back of the desk.

A breeze to set up, use and store. Smart collapsable design with well placed pockets and velcro that supports the structure of the box. Good material used. Kudos to the designer. I used this box with extra side lights for my e-commerce website. My pictures (of jewellery which is notoriously hard to photograph) came out well with even lighting. The reason why it gets 4 stars is that the background even when I used the provided white background appears slightly grey in my photos. Photoshop / Lightroom solved the problem but that meant extra time and effort. Shooting from straight above is also impossible due to the design. Otherwise, thumbs up, I would recommend it.

This is my 4th try at a photo box. The last 3 were from a very popular amazon seller and were a mess of shoddy materials. This unit, is not that.The velcro setup can be a bit tricky the first time or 2, but is very simple. No frame to setup. The openings are well made, the lights are setup very well.If I only had one complaint, its that there is no good way to store the backgrounds in the folded up unit. So, I keep it all in the original box, which is looking a bit tattered now.I recommend this one to everyone. 28" is really ideal to capture a few angles and most product shots.

There are a lot of problems with this photo cube. First and foremost, the backdrops when put in the cube just won't stay put. They keep rolling up no matter what. They come with teeny pieces of velcro which is a joke.... within 3 minutes, they've pulled away from the cube and rolled tight. The backdrops are also cut too long - they extend out beyond the edge of the photo cube, where they're meant to be tucked (which is a joke in itself as there's no way they'd stay in place) under a flap. The next problem is the lights - they get very, VERY hot - so much so that I wouldn't leave them lit if I were to leave the room. The lights are very bright and even with the 'diffuser' (thin piece of fabric) there's heavy glare on shiny items. Another problem which should be corrected is the piece on the front of the cube. I prefer to not have this piece at all and the only thing that can be done is to have it hang down from the table (which gets in the way of a chair or legs. I've tried tucking it under the cube, but it's not flat and makes the cube crooked. Would I buy it again - no. Would I recommend it - no. Should I have returned it - yes. My husband did come up with a fix for getting the backdrops to stay in place. He purchased a long, thin metal bar and some very heavy duty magnets. He slid the bar inside the cube across the top and is able to secure the backdrops with the magnets to the bar. It works (!!) and holds the backdrops in place, but this shouldn't have been necessary. This was just not properly designed.

Not too big and not too small, I love this thing! It's the perfect size for computer keyboards and shoes to give you an idea.It travels easily and sets up in less than a minute. I wish the lights were more evenly distributed across a larger surface instead of concentrated in the center, but I cut the diffuser up so I could triple layer it and that took some of the glare away. Great value, I'm really glad I got this.

Cons:This is a little cumbersome to install the plastic sheets. They come folded in half and are stiff. There are 4 corners of double sided hook and loop that hold OK, but the plastic sheet "pops" out of the bottom back corner making the top pop off, and it is awkward to get everything back together. The sheets of plastic backdrop need additional hook and loop or something better to secure them properly.The LED lights are in a square at the top. Although a vinyl fabric diffuser is included, it does not diminish the square reflection off of anything that is reflective. The picture of the plate was taken with the diffuser and I added bubble wrap to try to diffuse it even further. I would suggest the designers consider a better diffuser or change the layout of the lights.Pros:For non reflective surfaces, the lighting is spectacular.Love that it folds flat!

I bought this for a friend who needed it for business with employees who know nothing about photography. I'm a professional photographer and found that with about 10 minutes of training my friend's employees were able to get good quality photos. I used an incident light meter to get a proper reading, an in camera meter will have a hard time. We placed a small photo grey card in the box that is used for color correction in photoshop with the curves tool grey eye-dropper and then cut out before saving the final image.

I love this light tent! The colors are true, unlike my old tent and light set. It is easy to set up and break down. Traveling is so easy. The only thing that I would improve it add more or bigger velcro to the backdrop and to cut the backdrops shorter. The velcro fell off of mine and there isn't a very easy way to clip it back up. The backdrop was a little too long and needs to be cut shorter. Both of these things are minor complaints. Overall I really like this box.
