DUOSEAL pump oil with low vapor pressure, ideal viscosity is recommended for use with DUOSEAL or any other belt-driven vacuum pump. No additives or inhibitors. Exhaust filters trap oil mist and reduce noise. Replaceable elements reduce maintenance.

Specified Fluid
This fluid is the only fluid specified by Welch. For a few dollars, why take a chance with your pump, your research, or other expensive testing by using another fluid?

Oil from the same company that made the pump!
A necessary item to use when you have a very expensive, excellent, long-lasting vacuum pump. Stick with the same manufacturer as the pump, and don't quibble if the cost is a little higher.

Makes me feel like the company is not looking out for the customer ...
I bought this for a Welch DuoSeal 1400 vacuum pump. I don't know what is so special about the welch oil, and I am certain there is a generic replacement oil that could be purchased from a petroleum product manufacturer for a lot cheaper. No issue with the product, but the proprietary "blend" expense drops it to 3 stars. Makes me feel like the company is not looking out for the customer who purchased an expensive tool. This oil can get contaminated by residual droplets/vapors from the airflow of the suction side, and must be changed periodically. This means a continual expense for the customer, and a cash cow for the MFG. Again, product itself is great.
