Even Less Effective Than My Lazy Cats
These traps were horrible. Every time I would set one down it would instantly engage, and actually ended up breaking both of them before they ever even saw any action. Waste of money and time.

Excellent traps. Caught two critters within days of setting traps. Animals killed instantly, no suffering.

These traps work great!
RIP, field mice.

Easy to use but deadly (if you're a mouse).
Love these, much easier to set. Very effective if you've got a summer place that gets moused.

Instant, Humane Kills - Best Trap I've Found!
I have two of these "Tomcat" brand snap traps and have caught several mice with them. Every mouse was caught by the neck between the metal bar and the edge of the trap, with its neck broken and somtimes the back of its head crushed. These mice obviously died instantly, almost literally with a smile on their faces since they were enjoying the bait one instant and dead the next. It's very important to me to kill mice humanely if at all, so I am giving this trap 5 stars even though mice sometimes steal the bait. Other snap traps I've tried have never caught a mouse at all - the plastic Victor traps, for instance, require so much pressure to set them off that mice steal the bait 100% of the time. They steal the bait at least half the time with Tomcat traps, but the other half, they are caught and killed quickly and humanely, and that is good enough for me!

Cheap and efficient...
If you live in an old house in the Midwest, chances are you're going to have occasional rodent issues. This is especially true when the weather turns cold; mice want to stay warm too.Unfortunately for me, rodents seem to enjoy invading my house year-round...So I always need to be prepared!I'm not a fan of poisons; I'm not particularly fond of having rotting mouse carcasses in the hidden recesses of my home. Glue boards, despite being effective, are a little too inhumane for my tastes. Thus, I've returned to the old-fashioned wooden mousetrap. The TOMCAT brand's yellow plasic platform provides a nice inch-wide space for your bait, and makes setting the trap nearly foolproof. Moreover, this trap has a very high success rate (especially when peanut butter is used as bait) and it kills almost instantly. Also, if you're someone like me, who's on a relatively tight budget, this type of trap is the best cost-effective choice available.

Effective and Inexpensive - Recommended
These Tomcat Mouse Traps are easy to set, work well, and are fairly cost effective. We live in a rural area that tends to see critters trying to come into houses as the weather turns colder. Our cats used to keep the mice population down but they are getting old and have slowed down, so we need to give them a hand with these traps. After baiting the trap (we use peanut butter), set the trap by pulling the spring loaded U-shaped bar to the end, move the tension pin to cover the bar and the tip is positioned in the trigger grove. This is very easy and the large trigger grove is more forgiving than the older style. We are careful to set these where our cats can't get into them and we just throw the trap away once it has done its job.Recommended!CFH
