Raised edges make a lot of difference
I use this mat daily. I use the raised edges to stretch my feet out and to just change up my stance during the day. I have concrete floors and found that this mat alone was not enough cushion so I added their flat mat to go underneath this one. Increased the cushioning and comfort significantly. I utilize foot massage balls and found that the raised edges help keep the balls from rolling off the mat. I highly recommend.

This mat is very helpful when standing for many hours! It made the transition to go from sitting to standing the majority of the day much easier than I thought it would be! Because of the comfort and different positions I could put my feet, I was standing 75% to 80% of the day after just one week.

Good product, future improvements will make it great.
So, l like this mat, but it could be a lot better with more variation in the height to step up. I like that it slides easily over the carpet, but some of my shoes are too slippery to move it when I want to transition from sit down to stand up. Maybe a couple of ridges that I could hook with a heel would help. The surface is cushy enough to help make standing more comfortable even without the angled height relief perimeter.

Best of both worlds
Very happy with this mat! I was intrigued by the Ergodriven Topo mat (available on Amazon) and the praise it gets for encouraging one's feet to be constantly in motion. With its ActiveMat, Varidesk seems to be targeting that same market. But whereas the Topo mat *forces* one to adopt an unconventional stance, the ActiveMat makes this more of an option. The entire middle region (roughly 20" wide by 18" deep) is flat and functions like a normal (and high quality!) anti-fatigue mat; this is a generous space giving one lots of room for a variety of conventional standing postures. But if/when you *want* to adopt an unconventional stance (with ridges, etc.), you have plenty of opportunities awaiting you. Because of this, the ActiveMat seems to provide the best of both worlds. I have not tried the Topo mat (and people seem to love it), but, by way of comparison, it appears optimized only for unconventional stances; it does not (unlike the ActiveMat) provide a wide open region suited to a conventional stance. Like the Varidesk desk I also own, this is a high quality product. And in spite of the long estimated delivery date cited by Amazon, mine shipped quickly, arriving in 3 days.

Love it
Makes standing to work so much better. My feet haven't hurt yet when I stand throughout the day! I think it does exactly what it is supposed to. Literally the only downside is that when I do need to sit down it is kinda big and can get in the way. But I've got it to slide under my desk just right so I don't have to hoist it and relocate it when I wanna use my office chair!

The smell from the rubber makes me sick.
The Active Mat arrived in about 3 days, way before the estimated date. I immediately took it out of the box and put it down in front of my Varidesk 36". I really liked how the mat made me move around while standing as well as the added cushion under my feet. However after using the mat for about an hour I started to get a bad headache and started to feel sick from the smell of the rubber material. I thought maybe it just needs to air out for a bit so I set the mat off to the side of the room. Everyday now for the past 4 days I've tried using it but within 30-60 minutes I start to feel sick again from the rubber. I'm pretty disappointed with this product right now. I was excited to add this to my work space but if the smell doesn't go away in the next week or so I'll be returning it.

Angled sides offer multiple advantages.
Likes: The angled sides are useful to move the mat in and out of position when I switch from sitting to standing throughout the day. The angled sides are nice for switching up my stance, allowing for a wide stance while maintaining the same height as when standing with my legs straight. The cushioning does the job. I didn't have much standing fatigue before using this mat but I have less using it. If you want to stand straight on a flat surface, you can stand in the middle. Dislikes: None

Essential Part of Standing Desk
If you stand at your desk most of the day this is an essential piece to your set up. My wife had one and when I converted to a standing desk I didn't get one. After a week I ordered one and it made a great difference in comfort for all day standing. Before I would take more sitting breaks now its not uncommon to stand all day with out notice.
