Q: is this solid real wood or fake particle board laminated together?

It is not solid wood, at least not all of it, though it seems some parts might be. Also a pain to attach to a bedframe, had to drill new holes which couldn't line up properly cause the headboard was a little too narrow. Mine has always wobbled.

Q: does the top framing stick out? I like to read in bed, and it looks like the topframing would hit me in the back of the head.

No, it doesn't stick out far. No problem with reading in bed. It's been a great bed - looks good too.

Q: Can this be used on a full sized bed frame?

I have the queen headboard with a queen bed frame. It does attach to the frame. It's not super sturdy, but we have it against the wall and it works out fine.

Q: Does anyone know what size screws we need to attach the headboard to a frame? They weren't included and we have had difficulty getting the right size.

I didn't even bother hooking it on my mattress frame. I used the Hangman Mirror and Picture Hanger with WallDog Anchorless Screws -Aluminum (HML-12D) that I got on Amazon as well. Its the way hotels and resorts hang headboards on the walls - so much better.
