Interesting topic, but still a bit dully-written
I thought the topic is fascinating, how did a relatively obscure merchant manage to create a giant conglomerate in the stifling economic environment of India's bureaucratic socialism?Well according to this account it was thanks to bribes, good management of government contacts, charisma and hard work. Still, the writing style feels a bit too dry, which I suppose is for the sake of maintaining an objective tone? Anyway if I could I would give this a 3.5 star rating.

A continuation of "The Polyester Prince"
This book describes the life of Dhirubahi Ambani and the making of Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) and its later expansion into finance and telecommunication industries. It may be considered as India's version of a book on the "Robber barons". Revealed in the book are alleged deals and juicy strategies employed by Dhirubhai. The final chapters are devoted to the discussion of division of Dhirubhai's empire between his two sons, Mukesh and Anil. An interesting read!!

Highly entertaining look at how Ambani rose from rags to riches
A great study of the man, his family and India. You dont klnow whether to be outraged by his corrupt ways or admire the manner in which he outwitted the old money "licence-raj".
