Great battery. It was a battery intended to be a backup for my Canon SD1000 camera. It is hard to find an affordable battery for this camera that dated back to 2007. I am surprised they still sell these batteries. Very affordable and very cost efficient, the battery works great. It even lasts longer than the original battery that came with the camera. It is a great replacement battery and backup if needed for a classic camera I still use.

The battery does work I just have to keep taking it out of the camera keep charging it that is what I did with my last one so I bought a new one and it does the same thing it last for a little bit. I guess they’re made that way. I do plug it in and the light turned green, but then it turns red again not too long after that but it’s good enough for what I need

Great replacement battery at a great price

Very fast charge and so far has lasted longer than the stock battery, which is should being twice the capacity. I just want to say here as well that the initial battery I received was defective. The charger indicated it was charged as soon as I put in the battery yet it wouldn't power the camera. I contacted SterlingTEK and they replied within a couple hours offering to send a replacement and a free charger. The replacement and charger both work perfectly. Any product line can have a few duds so I'm not dropping any stars since the replacement has been just what I wanted.

Original rating was 3*, with title "It's a backup battery, not a replacement". I'm bumping it up to 4 stars. See updates for why. Do not expect this battery to compete with the original Canon battery in performance. It doesn't have nearly that much life. It is, however, good to have as a backup for when the main battery is depleted. It will take maybe 1/3 as many shots as the original battery, and it's pretty cheap. **Update** Company replied to this review asking me to get in touch with them. They are sending "a couple of replacements" for me to try out to see whether the performance is better. I have to be impressed with that kind of attention to the customer. Further updates will follow when I have tried the replacements out. **Update Again** The replacement batteries performed much more like the original. I took 130 or so pictures and video clips over the space of a week on one battery. The second one sat in the camera for around three weeks and took 100 or so pictures in that time. That's quite respectable.

The battery didn't arrive charged, but once I charged it, it has been going and going without running down. It fit my Canon Powershot 600 just fine. I had to laugh when the box arrived. The little battery in its little box was in a Shipping box big enough to hold a toaster oven! There was lots of padding.

After an extensive search on Amazon for a replacement battery for my Canon SD600, I found this one with good reviews! Was so thrilled to find it - there are so many out there with terrible reviews! That's where the happy story ended. The battery received did not hold a charge, let alone an extended one. After 40 minutes of charging in an authentic Canon battery charger, the charger indicated the battery was full. The first time using the battery, it only took about 50-60 pictures (no flash, outdoors during daylight) before the camera indicated the battery was low. In comparison, my genuine Canon battery which only has 700 mAh could take 100-200 pictures before dying. Thinking it might not have been charged full, we charged it again, and this time for a couple of hours. After the second charging, the battery took about 20 pictures before the camera said it was low, and the camera shut off immediately. This is the 3rd generic battery I've bought and by far the worst. STK's customer service, however, was good. I wrote them with my complaint, and they quickly responded and offered to refund my money if I mailed the battery back. Amazon sent me a paid postage label, which I sent back and subsequently received the credit on my credit card. If you buy this, cross your fingers that you get a good one!

I bought this battery as an extra (I always carry a replacement battery with my cameras, "just in case"). In the past, I have always bought Canon batteries but this one, is almost half the cost of a genuine Canon and an amazing increase in power (its an astounding 1400 mAh, which is a lot). I don't know how they pack so much power in so small a package. My wife used this replacement battery this weekend and it performed great. I don't know about its longevity but time will tell. So far, I am pleased.
