Exactly what I needed

good while it lasted, but slowed down a ton after a reformat
I reformatted the drive to NTFS from the default exFat a few months after getting this, and shortly after the drive became extremely slow. Not sure if it had to do with the reformat or it was coincidental, but in either case the format to NTFS shouldn't have made the drive so much slower from what I'm aware of. If the drive isn't suitable for reformat maybe there should be a notice that it shouldn't be reformatted.

Not a fast drive at all
The supplied cable that came with this 512GB unit didn't even work. Using my own USB-C to USB-C cable, I connected this to two different macs and run the same Black Magic disk speed test. Even with the setting at 1G the speeds were around 40MB/s. That's fine if you want to just have archival storage but if you're going to look for something that needs faster read/write speeds then I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
