It's probably one of the better tapes for not removing paint. BUT, it will if you leave it too long on the surface.

As stated in the product description, this tape is made for delicate surfaces. It is not as strong as the blue tape so don't expect it to have the same hold. It has a lighter grip and peels off easily. I purchased it to use on painted walls but also found it useful to label bins. Because of the lighter color, it's handy to write the bin contents with black marker on a piece of tape and stick it on the bin. It seems to be a bit high priced but it's useful and I would buy it again.

Many things work well for purposes other than their primary use. In the case of this tape, I needed to temporarily seal out dust from getting into my wife's crystal cabinet. The two glass doors that open on the side have 1/8-1/4 inch gaps all around them. And over time enough dust gets inside to be a real problem. So much tiny delicate glass is a real pain for her to take all out and clean. So this time I ordered and tested three tapes similar to this one, using several inches of each over the gap for a couple of weeks. They all stayed on, but this one was the easiest to remove, and left no residue. So now the the doors are sealed all around to assure that NO dust gets inside. They'll be easy to remove and replace when she needs to get inside, .. and it WON'T be to dust!

What I love about this tape is that it's translucent and I can see the thickness of the border that I'm leaving on my paper really easily and ensure the border is uniform. What is problematic is that is has peeled the fibres off the paper but just a bit - that's easy to mitigate by sticking the tape on your clothing and removing some of its stickiness. The translucence of the tape and the accuracy with which I can tape a border far out weigh the stickiness.

The best low tack tape I have found, now a lilac colour not blue. Easy to tear and apply. It leaves a nice sharp edge to the paint. Removal is easy and does not damage the existing paint or wood work. Note that this is a 55m long roll of tape, not the usual 41m long roll sold by competitor brands. As usual Scotch 3M products are not cheap, but you get what you pay for and in my opinion good value for money. I will buy again
