First Christian Dystopian Fiction
I loved what the author wrote: “Our mission at the underground church is to strengthen and encourage one another without fear of the future.” This was such a great character build for Lin, who would typically choose to be alone, and not be apart of a community, yet learned to trust the community she lived in to love on her and face her fears together.

Exciting Christian Fiction!
I didn’t know what to expect coming into this book, but I really enjoyed it! The characters are dealing with life after an internet shutdown. I think Lin was a really relatable MC and the action with all its twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat. I feel like I’m pretty good at predicting book endings, but this one had me in suspense!I haven’t read a ton of Christian Fiction recently, but the way the author brings Christ into the narrative was refreshing.Looking forward to the next book!

A great read
A wonderfully written book that keeps you entertained and engaged throughout your entire read. Loved the main character and enjoyed following her story through all the excitement and uncertainty in her life !

Original, off-beat protagonist
The concept of the plot intrigued me, even though this is not a typical genre for me to read. I liked getting to know the main character, Lin. She wasn't the same stale female protagonist discovering her battle skills that I have grown tired of in other dystopian stories. Her flaws and confusion felt real.

Compelling Read!
In this debut novel, Ms. Warner proves she is a master of suspense while spinning a tale of plausible fiction. Creative and clever work.

Very imaginative
The storyline was very imaginative, with suspense, kindness, love, etc. For a new writer it was a great book. Looking forward to more.

Unconventional take on dystopian fiction with a relatable and authentic main character
This book was very different from any dystopian book I’ve read. It was a heavy character driven storyline, giving the reader an immersive look into Lin’s inner thoughts and feelings as she deals with the trauma of being forced into a world without the internet, which runs the entire world. Lin, the central character, defied the stereotypical mold of a female lead awakening to her combat prowess and instead focused on how Lin dealt with the complete disruption in her life. Lin's imperfections and inner turmoil lent an authentic and relatable depth to her character. Her struggle to re-enter life after being a recluse and trying to find hope in the midst of her world being completely turned upside down gives the reader a glimpse into Lin’s life. We get to join her in her journey to reconnect with the people around her, maybe even her ex-husband!“In Real Life” was an interesting take on the dystopian trope and if you are a fan of this genre, it may be a refreshing change from the usual tropes we’ve all become accustomed to.

Timely, original, refreshing
I was happy to see an author confront the isolation and numbness many have suffered over the past year+. I've seen a lot of authors kinda ignore the pandemic and the issues it's raised in our daily lives. Maybe it's still too soon for some? Anyways this author went there and I felt almost relieved to read someone else processing what it's like to be shut away. Since I've been a shut-in for my own health reasons, I found it very relatable. The story was interesting and unpredictable, and look forward to seeing where the series goes from here.
