Excellent Heat Response, A Must-Have For Grilling
If you cook with charcoal, this is a must-have.Controlling your grill's temperature is crucial to turning out great food. The temperature difference between my Weber's built-in gauge and the ThermoPro probe resting on the grate is about 100 degrees! And the ThermoPro reacts faster and more accurately to the vent adjustments and temperature fluctuations. The best way to test this product was by barbecuing chicken wings. The trick is to cook them so the skin is browned and crisp, not burned, and the inside is done. So the grill temperature needs to be about 425-435 degrees to render the fat without flare-ups. With the ThermoPro, I was able to quickly tune and stabilize the Weber's temperature to that range. The wings turned out perfect! In the past, I've burned and/or undercooked them or exhausted my coals. The manual is pretty straightforward, except for describing how to use the grill clip. That clip is supposed to be sprung under tension between two of the grate's struts, with the probe inserted into its holes, resting about an inch above the grate. I attached the clip BEFORE putting the grate on over the hot, spread-out coals.Like another reviewer, I prefer using a separate receiver rather than a Bluetooth app on my phone to monitor the temperature. The signal was strong 35 feet and one wall away.

This device will detect the temperature of the oven exactly as I want it to
Read the instructions. This is very easy to use, but not exactly intuitive for me. Once I knew the steps, It works perfectly and as surely as if I were watching the temperature myself. And as a clerk said about ten years ago, about inventing such a thing, I was able to ride on someone else's shoulders and merely buy the device. Thermometer quality, accuracy, durability, and ease of using and cleaning is first class all the way.I'm happy I bought it, and it is (truly!) easy for me to use.

Simple, accurate, easy set up, good range
Simple design, the displays are a good size, the connectivity is fast and solid, the temps are accurate as verified by multiple independent electronic temp probes. Both screens of the device have a backlight on the two devices that remains on for about 15 seconds when activated.I’ve used this thermometer setup many times and it works well. The two probes allow the user to measure two items being cooked or one item and the grill or over temperature. The research I did demonstrated that this setup is used by many pro BBQ cooks and chefs.I thought about the wireless probe models but that introduces connectivity and charging issues and higher replacement costs if you need a new probe or two and the initial cost is 4-5 times what this one cost me on sale. I am happy with this device.Hope that helps!

ACCURATE AND CONVENIENT, BUT FAILED EARLY ON **UPDATED**
*UPDATE:*** After writing the review below, I got an email from iTronics. The TP20 has a 5-year warranty, and they are sending me a new one. Very happy with that level of customer service! Well done, iTronics.Well, it is accurate and lets you measure temperatures of both meats and the smoker or even oven up to 500+ degrees F, so that's awesome. I'm sad to say, though, that it quit after a few weeks. I was doing an overnight smoke and it just kept resetting from "PROG" mode (which lets you set whatever temp alarms you want) to "BEEF" mode (which is factory set at 145 degrees) so, of course, the temp being monitored in the smoker (225 degrees) set off the alarm. This must have happened 30 times during that night. Finally I just gave up and shut it off. So tired of going outside to check the in-door thermometer, and being constantly woken up. I haven't used it since.pros:- accurate, convenient when it works- very good range. more than the 300' claimed- seems rugged (but not as much so as its appearance led me to believe.) I wouldn't spill a liquid on it and expect it to survivecons:- BEEPS LOUDLY EVERY TIME YOU TOUCH A BUTTON, including the button to illuminate the screen, and there's no way to turn that off. I don't know about anybody else, but I often smoke meat overnight, and waking my wife up every time I need to check the temps does not make her (and therefore me) happy- not durable - broke after a few weeks- expensive for what use I got out of itIf I thought it would last longer (like at least a year for $60), I'd buy another one. But as it stands, I will be buying a Maverick. I've had a cheap Maverick from Home Depot for almost a year and it works great, just doesn't have the upper temp range to measure smoker/over temp. But they do make one that does. :)

Seems well made. Interesting features. No hesitating with the rating.
5 star because it worked well the first (and only time so far) I've used it. I bought it because a cheaper Taylor probe thermometer stopped working in about 3 months. Being able to get temps when I'm away from the kitchen sounds interesting, but frankly I don't see myself using it like that. Keeping track of two things in the oven at the same time - like a couple of chickens - might be handy. 5 stars so far, with the hope that it's a keeper. NICE BIT -- no plastic in the secure packaging.
