How well do these stand up in rain or snow?

We don't leave the artificial tree out in the winter. I actually bring it in the house over the winter. The icy cold makes the tree a little brittle, and I guarantee a good snow storm will weigh it down. The rain doesn't seem to have any effect on it. We actually put the tree, which is in a little pot, into a big pot full of sand to make it nice and sturdy.

I used about a 10-12 inch base pot.

Can you remove it from the pot?

Yes. The nursery type pot can be removed if you wish
