Renewed laptop but you can barely tell...
Was a bit concerned about some of the reviews here but had my heart set on this Lenovo X1 Carbon (renewed) given I rarely want to pay full price. Took about a week plus for delivery and the laptop comes in a plain white box. Inside, the laptop in a clear plastic bag and power cord wrapped with a rubber band, super basic. But you know what you're getting into when you buy refurbs. Once unwrapped and powered up, Windows 10 starts to install and here's where the goodness comes into play. Super bright screen, tactile keyboard, smooth trackpoint, super light, the laptop was in pristine condition without any scratches, marks, visible wear, or even dust! Once everything is installed, I download the latest Lenovo drivers and we're good to go. And I also get to see that my laptop is a 7th gen X1 Carbon so it's even a bit newer than expected. The only issue here is that the 7th gen doesn't have an Micro SD slot but I guess it's a fair trade-off. Overall super happy with the condition this renewed laptop came in and expect it to be a viable full-time laptop for 3 to 5 years. Definitely worth the risk!

Great product.
My Laptop arrived with everything functioning properly. Fingerprint reader and face scan works. The keyboard came with two q keys, one in the place of an a. And a lot of the keys on the board were kind of scratched up but only noticeable when looking closely. Most of all the biggest issues I've had with it is the sort of wrap that Lenovo put over the computer. It peels easily. It was peeling within days of my use of it. And the speakers are quite low. So low even at max volume in a quiet room you'd struggle to hear clearly what someone is saying. I had to install a plugin that boosts the volume just to hear what I am watching better. Overall the computer was well worth the price. Even with these small issues the computer is otherwise great and works well. Worth the $300+ price tag I originally paid for it!

Good renewed NB PC
Minor cosmetic issues but it does not influence the performance. A little bit trade off in battery life but it does not cost a fortune to replace a new one, if needed.

Not in "Excellent condition"
This is the first time I bought a used computer on Amazon and it will be the last. In the past I have bought laptops on eBay as you can see photos of them. But I thought I would take a chance here, considering the description which claims “Excellent condition” etc, and it has turned out to be more of a crap shoot, a roll of the dice. I will go into the condition of the rest of the laptop and things to know about this model when you get it, after I explain what I am disappointed about. The seller was Global Resale/Remarkets but this could occur with any of them. The list price was $475 which I’m glad I didn’t pay. Instead I paid a Black Friday/Cyber Monday price of $326. There is a label on the shipping box which lists the item name, specs and condition. The condition grade listed on the box was B3. Refurbished electronics are given grades A – D where A is Excellent and B is Good. So right there on the box with not even a grade of B1 but B3 it shows that this item is NOT in the advertised listed Excellent condition!!! I’m going to lodge a complaint with Amazon. The outside of the laptop had visible signs of wear (for example someone put stickers on it which they removed) from several feet away and looked like it was smeared with something. The screen was visibly smeared with something. I’m going to guess they wiped the laptop down inside and out with some kind of fluid which remained on it. I tried cleaning the screen with a microfiber cloth and lens cleaning fluid and that just smeared the gunk around. I had to (very very carefully!) use a mild cleaner to get it off the screen. After that a wipe with the cloth and lens fluid cleaned it up. It came with a charging cord from 2021. After starting up, I checked the specs and it was as ordered. And looking carefully the screen appeared to be in good shape. The keyboard and track pad worked fine. I tested the ports and they worked. I found that the function keys F7 – F12 did nothing. I installed the Lenovo Vantage software which is very important. It has a function to optimize battery life. It’s also used to install important updates. Installing a Hotkey update fixed the non-working function keys. There is also a critical firmware update to the SSD system which is necessary to avoid drive failure due to bugs in the firmware. Also updated the BIOS. The hard drive was an Intel SSD and Crystal Disk Info told me the health status was Good at 88%. It had 300 power ons with a year of on time. I plan to replace it with a Samsung 980 1 TB which has twice the benchmark rating. The battery seems fine. On boot up there is what is known as a Pixie (PXE) error. After looking into this, it is not a cause for concern. It has to do with the boot order (which you can change in BIOS setup) starting with a network card which then goes to hard drive. Given the satisfactory functioning of the laptop so far and the reduced price, I plan to keep it. But won’t order another one from Amazon or Global Resale/Remarkets.

Check for BIOS Supervisor Password
The laptop itself was in really good shape. Very little wear and even came with a seemingly new charger in the box. The deal breaker? It had a supervisor password enabled in the BIOS. I couldn’t even adjust the date and time, much less boot from a USB drive. That’s an instant return for me. I’d guess these were bought from a company/corporation. Potential buyers beware and a strong note to sellers. Make sure the laptop isn’t locked up.

Excellent condition. Great seller.
Minor wear, but excellent condition considering it is refurbished. Wear is really only around some connectors and outside of case. Screen is excellent and it works great. Started up and then upgraded to Windows 11 with no issues. Still testing battery but it seems like its good for 8-9 hours. Great communication with seller.

WLAN card was missing.
This X1 Carbon is clean, in good condition, and exactly what I needed......except for one thing: wireless. Upon initial bootup I noticed that wifi was not available. Noticed that nothing showed up in Device Manager or Network Adaptors. I removed the bottom cover and noticed that the WLAN chip had been removed. Looking back on the product description I noticed that wireless "as a feature" was missing. So I guess I should have caught that. I ordered a WLAN chip off eBay.

Great deal on a very clean renewed laptop
Long story short, my company has an image I need to run and it seems to only run appropriately on our old company standard laptop. The X1 is a very lightweight, high functioning work laptop and I am looking forward to running this company image without further time spent troubleshooting. I'm being deliberately terse to hide my company's shame. One small hiccup, the Windows 10 Pro install is stating the need to activate. I'll update my review if that remains an issue.
