I bought this to add a little bit of UV in my room/bird room, though primarily I rely on full spectrum lighting because I still can’t be sure about all the differing opinions about using UV lights for captive birds. I have set up the light and have had it for about a week or two, and so far very happy with it. The birds fly free during the day and were a little scared of it at first, the finches still don’t like it too close to their cage. But they are getting used to it enough to perch on the gooseneck and sit under the light sometimes, they don’t really seek it out but don’t avoid it either. I am especially happy this might help my senior lovebirds, as UV is said to help with calcium absorption. I wish I had it when they were younger. Despite varying opinions, I like this because (so long as you have a large enough cage or a flight), you can place the light to one side and not the other and the birds are not forced under too bright a light that might strain their eyes. It’s easy to move, lightweight and yes the structure isn’t perfect but for a breaking the price down, the light alone is $40 and maybe $60 for the structure (Canadian) which is about the cheapest you can expect to find a floor lamp. The reflective top works pretty well in directing the light. I am satisfied with this one for sure. Thanks!

I can't find where to contact the seller so am leaving a review. Saudi has pretty much moved to 240 volt now. Why would this not be made clearer. It is included in product details if I search for it but didn't even think to look as I already have one that I bought from the UK. At present it is pretty useless for me and it took weeks to arrive and cost me import fees.

I got this for my Eclectus parrot, who's about 23 now. Despite tons and tons of avian vet visits, he's been a light plucker (around his neck) since he was 2 or so. In the past 5 years, he developed pretty severe dermatitis and his plucking got much worse. He's been in and out of collars, but it's gotten out of control lately. My poor friend is so itchy and it's heartbreaking. I've always kept him by a quiet sunny window, but I've been thinking he hasn't been getting the benefits. Before he gets the collar again, I figured I'd give this a try. I let the light run for a day and then moved it closer to his cage, but have kept it at the recommended distance for the first little while. It's been about a week now. The change has been immediate! He's less squawky, chatters more, is more comfortable staying in his cage... and he even... seems less itchy. I'll hold off on saying it's fixed anything until he's had the light for longer, but he's been hanging out with me all day and has only itched under his wing once. Maybe it doesn't fix his plucking or his skin problems, maybe it does. But he seems happier and that's worth the cost. If I had a complaint, it'd be that the design is utilitarian, not really terribly attractive. Would've been nice to be in a darker color to match the cage, maybe? But I like the features, it's easy to use, and it's relatively easy to position. Has a good heavy base, so I'm not worried about knocking it over, and the power cable is kept hidden so that you don't have to worry about your bird chewing it. Unlike a lot of other lamps, it has a reflective lampshade so that you can target the light where it needs to go and get the most out of it. All in all, a great purchase!
