Is the absorbent top side 16 oz like the Abzorb brand or a super thin 8 oz material?

thank you for your question, our item is about 9.6 oz, and the material is fabric which can absorb oil and other liquid ,backing is anti-slip.

Can it stay OUTdoors (in the sun) ?

Your question is unclear. You can use it out in the sun. Since its black, it will get warm and it's lightweight so you'll need to place items on it to keep it from blowing away. I guess you could just leave it outside, prior answers are still applicable. I guess you could affix it somehow outside and use it 24 x 7, but it is thin and things do stick to the surface, so the value in using it to absorb oil drippage full time would be limited.

As the previous question, how will this do outside if it rains ?

I have the mat under my smoker which is on my uncovered patio. The mat doesn’t absorb water and seems fine otherwise.
