The hole in the spout is circular and small enough that even if he opens his mouth in mid-sip, there is no spillage.The cups and lids are sturdy, well-designed, and dishwasher-safe. I like the flange around the flat bottom, making them harder to tip over, and the fact that they are entirely clear, so I can see exactly what is inside.
