Smart enough to install a simple gate without directions? Don’t try it like I did. There’s a zip tie with a tag that says “Do not remove the zip tie until installation is complete,” also says the same thing on the outside of the box and of course I never read that far and cut the zip tie. Thankfully, this company knows you’re in too big of a hurry to read the directions first and sent along a spare zip tie. You can do it without, but it does make it easier. The design is not necessarily intuitive but when you understand the directions, it all makes sense. For example, the threaded rods don’t actually thread into the gate like I assumed they would; however, in my mind, this actually makes it easier to install with the proper tension.Pros: Sleek design. Reasonable price for the style it is. Seems sturdy enough, although I’m using it for a small toddler, not a big dog. Unlike my old gate, this one has no good foothold for babies who love to climb! Safety latch at the bottom of the gate provide extra strength. Will close automatically, but will also stay open if you swing it past center.Cons: I wish it would automatically engage the latch at the bottom, but I know that would mean a higher price point and more moving pieces to malfunction...

Been using this gate for several months to keep my dogs separated during the day when I’m not home. My boys are young and definitely push boundaries, I was afraid they would try and be able to push through it by knocking it out of place but it’s super sturdy and has never budged. It’s pretty easy to install and use—we didn’t even screw it in place, we are just using the tension knobs. The only complaint I have is that you have to step over the bottom edge which is a big tripping hazard, but I think it’s unavoidable in the design of these gates. Just something to note. Very pleased! Price was good, fit is great, and it even blends into my stair railings.

For the price and stability can’t be beat. Works well with easy set up. Fits my doors and stairs perfectly. Doesn’t move and is very stable. The kids and dogs cannot get by. I love that there is a door to pass through. Color is very black and classy and not easily scratched. I have 2 already.

Excellent Gate, we use it in a couple different places, depending on whether we’re upstairs or downstairs. Very sturdy, you can take out one to two pieces for whatever width of opening you’re using. Easy to open, latches on its own when shut. Highly recommend!

It works and was easy to install. I do find it flimsy compared to other gates I've purchased.And one feature I missed when ordering it is the lack of an auto-close feature. This opens and stays wherever you leave it. I bought it to keep the dogs from going upstairs. Now they wait and hope I forgot to close it. Which guests frequently do. The others I have all close automatically.A few pluses* easy to open. I have others that are more difficult.* opens in both directions - useful when putting against stairs. The hinge can go either side and still opens.* looks nice

I bought this almost a year ago and I'm so glad I picked this one. It's easy to install, sturdy, looks nice, and is easy open. It's also super convenient that is closes on its own if you open it less than 90 degrees. Super happy with this one!

This gate is a much better solution to keeping the little dogs in the front of the house than the piece of cardboard that I was using! I was hoping for a spring-loaded expansion, but got a screw-in setup instead. It is a little awkward to set up, and take down, but works pretty well anyway. I took it down to mop the floor and haven't fiddled it back into place yet, but even halfway right, it works. The hallway that's blocked off is pretty wide (42") and this gate fits just fine. I did have to set up extra blocking at one end of the gate as the little girl breezes through without a pause.
