Solid Product & Tons of Fun
This is a good quality fun product, after making 5 wire connections to my Arduino WEMOS D1 Mini Pro I was up and running with demo code in no time, then started creating my own displays and animations.I used the SPI driver Library by Bartosz Bielawski (in the Arduino IDE) which seems to work very nicely for scrolling text/sprite displays and pixel bashing too.The onboard driver chips MAX7219 and library allows for brightness (Intensity) adjustment by code too.The LEDs quite bright at full intensity and reasonable dim at the lowest Intensity. I've tested this display outside on a very bright sunny day and it is still 100% readable at full brightness.I've been running this display every day now (this update March 2024) and it has performed superbly, no signs of fatigue or fading, upgrading my review from 4 to five stars now, this has been a great product.Hardware Connections from the Display to Processor Board are:Display to Arduino___________________VCC to 5VGND to 0V or GroundDIN to MOSI (SPI)CS to CS (SPI)CLK to SCLK (SPI)Since there is no need to read data from the display, the MISO wire of the typical SPI interface isn't required nor used, you're up and running with just 5 connections. This is an "old school" chunky type of display compared to the newer compact OLED displays but it is fun to create with something that gets your attention and can be read from across the room for less than $10 a pop - good value learning and/or entertainment.

Worked great for small project
I purchased 4 of these (total of 16 8x8 matrix) for use in a small scrolling sign project using a Nano. The displays are very bright and had no dead LEDs. As other reviewers have pointed out they are easy to use with a MAX72XX library, just be sure to specify the display type as "FC16_HW" (or equivalent). There are headers presoldered to the input pins, you may have to do some soldering / unsoldering if you want to line up several of these 4 unit modules to make a longer (or taller) display. Each unit I received included an extra 5 pin 90 degree header that could be soldered on the output side if needed.

Very Bright
Great LED matrix, very easy to connect to a Raspberry Pi Pico. It’s bright and easy to see from across a well-lit room, even when running at 3.3V instead of 5V.The interface pins weren’t soldered on at an exact 90-degree angle, but other than that it was well constructed and the actual LED panels are all straight and flush.
