Great
I've used smaller wedges (1/2") in the past and felt like I was pushing their limits. By comparison, these bigger wedges split granite for me without a struggle. With a big enough rotary hammer to make drilling the 1" bores go quickly, I had the pictured rock quartered in less than 15 minutes.

These are great.
Had a large Iron Ore rock that I needed to split into several pieces. These wedges easily handled what is a very hard type of rock.'Drilling the 1" holes necessary was the hard part'. But once in place the wedges made quick work of the rock and the wedges literally look brand new.

Heavy heavy duty
I have a granite boulder, 6’ in diameter, probably 10k+ lbs. Put 15 of the standard wedges in it, just made a surface crack. Couldn’t break it. Got these monsters, just used 4 of them to widen the existing crack and used a 5’ pry bar. This did the trick, the beast has broken. Definitely recommend these, more expensive than the standard feather/wedges, but way better for breaking the massive monster boulders.

Things keeps coming apart
These are only good for rocks that are about 16 inches thick and soft. I have been trying to use them with a granite rock and despite doing everything possible to crack this rock these things keep snapping or breaking the retaining band. I have been using a total of eight and now I am down to about 5 due to component failure and metal breaking. If I had this to do all over again I would have bought smaller feathers in greater quantity.

These are large wages for heavier work, well priced, standing up well on first use
These wedges are larger than most, about 7 inches long and require 3/4" diameter hole. They worked well in a challenging job: breaking some hard granite. The wedges showed no sign of deterioration in a hard day's use with considerable hammering. I was particularly impressed that they have a thick & sturdy O-ring, with these wedges better described as an O-band, that lasted through several cycles with no damage, It looks like they last well. Soft rubber o-rings on smaller wedges i previously used broke on first use. The o-ring is not critical, but it helps in keeping the set together when inserting in the hole, so reduces the chance of dropping one of the feathers down the hole. (It can still happen. Keep a magnetic pickup tool handy to get the piece out of the hole.
