Yes it clicks as you open but it'll stay open. Light very nice. Might remove the rope and add nicer handles. Do recommend. True to size. No assembly.

Nice lightweight trunk. It has a somewhat vintage look, which adds to the charm. My top has an ever so slight shift in but it's up on top of my chest dresser so no one will ever view this. I put a bit of stain (I always have some) on mine, including the metal portion, and it looks great. I would buy this again.

I was prepared to be disappointed when I carried the package inside-- it is lighter in weight than I expected. However, some of that lightness turned out to be because of the metal--it's either tin or aluminum, I'd say. The box is not made of that cheap balsa type wood. It is a soft wood, which is naturally lighter by nature.I like the box a lot, and would love to give it five stars, but for a couple minor issues. Because it's softwood, it does ding easily. The cat scratched the wood with his hind claw as he jumped off it. He jumped off with a lot of force because he was playing, so it's only been that once so far. The other issue is also that the wood has a rough texture, rather than being sanded smooth. It's done that way to give it a rustic look, which is nice. Actually it works in my favor, because I have a knitted pad on top for the cat and the texture of the wood actually holds it in place pretty well.It's already gotten several compliments. The patina on the metal is lovely, just as shown in the pic. I am using it for my files--one of those plastic racks that hold hanging files fits perfectly, while a basket for pending files fits neatly beside it. It would work for a throw or two, but is probably too small if you need to stash a bunch of throw pillows.

This trunk is solidly constructed and looks beautiful -- I am using it as a coffee table in front of a loveseat and it is perfect width and height for this purpose. The trunk also provides ample storage which is a real plus -- I have six throw blankets inside and there is still some unused space. As some reviews have mentioned there is a clicking noise made when the trunk is opened, but it isn't an issue at all. I am very pleased with this trunk.

I ordered this to use as a coffee table for a small space which also allows for extra storage. It arrived quickly and was very well packaged. It's lightweight which is perfect since it will need to be moved when settting up the sofabed. The pattern is pretty and complementary to the space.

I spent hours trying to find a box by the door we can throw shoes in. Tried one but so flimsy it broke getting it out of the package.Here is the just of the box...Pros...does look decent, sturdier than others I have tried, after I removed the bar hinge that allowed it to open at different heights-see below, it worked great. Overall, I am pleased and would buy another one.Cons...not so sturdy you could throw in tools, drills, etc. etc. Works great for clothing, small toys, shoes etc.The stress hinge that is supposed to allow the lid to open at different heights is worthless. It has a terrible popping sound, and does not work for 'half open' anyway. I did find however, if I removed the side hinge...easily done, the top opened great...really, it works better without the side hinge. Sooo much better than the vinly covered storage boxes that I bought from AmazonTwo month update. The box is still working great by the door for shoe storage. As mentioned earlier, the side hinge made a terrible popping sound...but easily removed, back hinges work great. Would recommend for light to moderate storage needs. Have tried all types of vinyl storage boxes....the wooden easy to open and shut wins by far. I would buy another down the road if needed. Worth the money for storage that people will see in open areas.

It’s rustic looking and the metal bands add a nice touch to the overall looks. I may replace the rope handles with some leather straps but for now it’s a perfect storage place and the size is just right. It’s not real hefty feeling so I don’t know how well it would hold up if a 200 lb. person were to sit on it. I can lift it myself without straining and I’m over 70 years old. I’m very pleased with it and think it’s worth the price I paid.

I like blankets, but I live in Phoenix Arizona so most of the year I don't need them. My apartment is small with no closets so storage space comes at a premium. Plastic bins while suitable aren't the most aesthetically appealing so I thought that getting a trunk would be the perfect answer. The fact that this trunk is made of real wood and metal but is still extremely lightweight and inexpensive was exceedingly impressive. The size shape and appearance are perfect for my needs and my blankets now have a happy home when I'm not using them.
