Great price - excellent performance
We have had a Toshiba Satellite Laptop for some time, mainly for playing SIMS 4. We found that after upgrading to the latest version of WIndows 10 (2004) that performance suffered massively. Processor and RAM were fine so I decided to swap out the old hard drive for a shiney new SSD.Decided on the KC600 1TB as its fully supported on my laptop and also came with the full upgrade kit which was handy! That, alongside its capacity & price point were the compelling factors for purchasing. As i didn't want to lose anything, I simply booted into Windows on my laptop and then attached the SSD via USB (using the cradle supplied with the kit). You do get a coupon with the kit to download and use Acronis software but I opted to use Macrium Reflect Free home edition. So, installed Macrium Reflect attached the SSD via USB and then just ran the software. Selected CLONE and then selected all my existing partitions to clone onto the SSD and hit GO. 30 minutes later the clone had completed without issue so it was time to shutdown the laptop and swap out the drives.I removed the old hard drive and replaced it with the SSD and then got ready for lift off! WOW - boot time went from over 2 minutes to a ridiculous 7 seconds to get the WIN10 login splash screen. Logging in and seeing the desktop instantly appear with no lag or jitter is just incredible. The big test was of course running SIMS 4 and I confess it has never run so fast or so smooth on this laptop! So in summary - cloning my existing hard drive means I lost no data and so could simply swap out the existing hard drive with the SSD and keep everything (operating system included) without issue. Boot, login and gaming performance improved beyond my expectations.Highly recommended - this basically saved me purchasing a new gaming laptop and the performance we now have is amazing for an i5 laptop with 8GB RAM!

Rubbish
I had confirmed the drive was compatible with my laptop before purchase.Today I have spent 8 hrs attempting to clone the SSD drive using the software link provided by Kingston which is complicated even to download. No success. So I thought lets try some other apparently free cloning software. That also did not work and the drive would not clone itself from the current old hard drive no matter what I attemptedSo returned

Saved me purchasing a new laptop
What an improvement. I was sceptical about purchasing and installing this SSD. However, I went ahead and how pleased I was with my decision. Physically the installation with the Kit was so easy plus the included case allows me to use the replaced HDD as an external drive. However, I was unable to use the recommended software to clone my existing OS to the SSD. For some reason, even unknown to Kingston support, after many hours of trying I couldn't clone the OS, so I then used a free app. from the internet and that went like a breeze (hence my 4 star rating for installation). But that aside I am really pleased with the increased speed this SSD has made to my laptop making it usable for some time to come. If you have a PC with a HHD and is slow I have no hesitation in recommending this reasonably priced SSD to speed up your system.

Genuine item at a competitive price
My laptop was really slow and taking ages to boot up. I was thinking of getting a new one or taking it into the service centre for an upgrade but after a bit of research online and watching some very helpful videos on YouTube I concluded I could do it myself. This one on Amazon was a better price than going direct to Kingston for exactly the same thing with the added advantage of prime delivery. Instructions are clear and easy to follow but the procedure for downloading and activating the cloning software is a bit convoluted. Provided you have confidence enough to take the back cover off your laptop you will be able to do this. Everything worked as advertised and my laptop is now much faster and more responsive.

SDD KINGSTON
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Firstly I’d like to say I was skeptic about the tech details when I read it would reach 15x faster than HDD.It was the reason why I bought this SDD as 252GB.Well, I must say I’m really impressed and it surely is the most well performed upgrade I have been done. I’m saying honestly. At some point I decided record this video to help other people to see exactly what expect for this KIGSTON Sdd.Before I decided changing the Hd for one SDD I watched so many videos at YouTube, comparing the performances and I still was skeptics and I was wondering why not change this laptop. As you will see, it’s true what they say. The performance is now fabulous. The value of money is a bargain comparing to the result you will reach.I do recommend

Kingston KC600 SSD SKC600/1024G review
I have had Kingston products before which were great and this SSD is no exception. The HDD on my old Dell Dimension 9200 started to make strange noises so I cloned the HDD using Macrium Reflect on to an external drive ASAP before it crashed. I then copied it to the Kingston SSD and it has given my Dell Dimension a new lease of life.Previously I did give this a 1 star rating as my desktop wouldn't recognise the SSD but this was due to an error on my part so I've now edited this review.

Fast quiet
I like Kingston, always reliable, excellent upgrade kit, rather mean knocking one star off for probably my ineptitude couldn't get the cloning software acronis to work, used Macrium reflect instead that cloned the original hard disk in 35 mins, plugged the provided usb c into the box, went into the bios on start up told the pc to boot from usb instead of hard disk. And it just works, easy. Significant improvement in start up speed and use.

A big performance advantage over HDD
You do need to look at the on line video as there aren't any instructions. That said, it would be helpful if there was a printed indication that the lid for the caddy slides off and the USB/SDI cable is inside. I used this on a 7 year old Acer 430T timeline that I'd upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10. Prior to installing the SSD, the HDD would run at 100% read/write for about 15 minutes on boot up whilst the Win 10 update process did its checks. With the SSD, this takes about 15 seconds! So, an old laptop I used as a backup now fully restored.
