Briggs & RileyZDX Carry-On, Small

Two years, a dozen trips (cabin-only: domestic and international), looks like new.
I travel 6-8 times a year, within the US and internationally, and I go carry-on only, always. My previous most-beloved international carry-on was a hard shell spinner. The 19” Delsey Helium Aero is so nice that three of them are still in regular use by my family, but between curbs, cobblestones, and carpeting, I was ready to try a roller, and landed on this soft-sided bag.For the last two years, I have packed everything I needed for each trip—always including an empty, flattened backpack (a Topo Designs Rover Mini, another favorite) into this single rolling duffel. This included travel on US and European carriers, to and within Europe. Two years in, everything about this bag has remained where and how it should: the wheels don't wiggle and they show no damage and barely any wear after lots of rolling on lots of surfaces. The extending handle moves smoothly and straight. The material of the bag itself shows no snags or nicks, and the zippers remain as zippy as the day we met. The interior organization is simple, appropriate, and useful, and all of its components—zippers and mesh, dividing panels and clips—are in fine shape.I was prompted to write this review today when I opened the interior lining to attach a better AirTag mount inside. Behind the lining of the inside of the bag is evidence of more quality and care of materials and assembly than I’d have imagined. It’s all finished so nicely, with protective spongy foam pieces over all hardware between the case and the lining, and the actual construction as visible behind the lining makes the price point of this brand absolutely right. You get what you pay for with this one—and it feels and looks like more. With a bag small enough to carry on almost any carrier, you’re not likely to miss a clamshell type suitcase if that’s been your preference. The duffel opening is fine: The strap-down panels inside let you pack your things in two layers if you want to separate easily accessible stuff from what isn’t needed until you get where you’re going. The two outside zippered pockets are reasonable, a large one across the top of the bag with a flap opening, and a much smaller pocket on the side of the bag—useful to stash keys, hand wipes, snacks, etc. On the back of the bag, in the shallow space between the external rails of the extending handle, is a flat, zippered pocket to hold a portable charger. The front of the bag has a large flat pocket with no closure—it’s neither padded nor secure, so not a spot for laptop transport, and a magazine would do better in it than a hardcover book. That said, a big flat pocket on the outside of the bag ends up being a handy catch-all for papers, a snack, headphones, a hat, etc. And a book.Across that front pocket are the two duffle-style straps which attach to each other by a velcro wrap handle. The duffel handle seems more like styling than function—not once have I picked this bag up by it. A suitcase style grab on the long side would be more useful for lifting this bag.Nevertheless, they designed a rolling duffel that opens like a duffel, and this Briggs & Riley rolling duffel has proven to be my most favorite bag I’ve ever owned or used.

Practical luggage
Bought this luggage bag for my husband who travels short duration. This bag is made very well, light weight and is perfect for carry on. The top compartment is great to access key items.
