Welsh Cakes are a tea cake that comes from a time before baking when people cooked over the open fire. Our cakes are made by hand on griddles as they have been made in Wales for centuries. Our unique family recipe makes our cakes lighter and not particularly high in fat or calories. Usually eaten with tea, coffee or milk they may be warmed and served with clotted cream and jam or eaten right out of the package. Each cake is 2.5" in diameter and 1/2" tall and weighs about 1 ounce. Our cakes are a very typical size and weight for a Welsh Cake like you would find in Wales SO PLEASE! don't buy them expecting them to be like something they are not. They are NOT English muffins or crumpets nor are they meant to be. They are what they always have been - a hand griddled tea cake. They may seem a little dry to some palates. Warming helps soften them and bring out the moisture. Also, people commonly serve them with butter, clotted cream or jam as they would a scone.

Utterly delicious!
I had never had a Welsh Cake - or even heard of them - before seeing these listed on Amazon. I was intrigued, and decided to try them. My husband is possibly more into them than I am, saying they were one of the best things he's eaten. He particularly likes the currant ones. I've since ordered more directly from their website. They frequently have 15% off codes and they sell larger packs and you can select which flavors you'd like. They also have scones, but I prefer the Welsh cakes. Additionally, they sell griddled shortbread that's delicious. Welsh cakes have a dry texture, but they are great with something like double cream or lemon curd, among other jams. On their website, they even have box options that allow you to select a certain number of add-ons like this (picture is of one such order). Even butter is nice on them. They are denser than a typical cookie, but not as dense as most scones, and the outer layer has a subtle crispness. The quality is excellent, and they'd make a great gift!

A taste of Wales :)
Delicious little cakes! A light not overly sweet flavor. Dry, crumbly and dense like a scone. Perfect with tea or coffee.

Addictive!
I am a fan of scones and wanted to try these. I expected them to be the size of English muffins, but they are smaller—about the size of silver-dollar pancakes. However, the flavor is all there; two are enough to have with your morning coffee. These are great and not too sweet if you want a morning treat. Great with butter. I would get them again.

Scrumptious!!!
The currant tasted absolutely scrumptious! I haven't tried the blueberry yet, but I'm sure they are just as wonderful! So glad I took a chance on these and I will definitely be ordering more flavors in the near future! Just pop them in the toaster to warm and slightly crisp them! I had them plain the first time around, but I will try them with butter next. May even try them with clotted cream, as this is one of the suggested ways to eat them! They were a bit smaller than expected, but it's probably better that way...since I lack self-control with baked goods...lol. Thanks for such a delicious treat!

Expensive but amazing
These are pricy but they are unlike any other baked good you can buy, as far as im aware. The paperwork and hand-signed receipt is super cute, and the whole thing is just so wholesome. I wish this company was local, id be there every weekend to buy some more.Definitely worth the price, even if it seems a little high. If you're even just curious, try them.

Not terrible, just not much to this small, surgery tasting thing (not sure what to call it),

Tea cakes? Really?
I do not wish to be rude about anyone's baking or products however I do not reccomend these "tea cakes." Not only are they high in calories and fat they are also tasteless and really not worth the money by anymeans.
