If you’ve ever thought, “I wish Black Forest gateau came in liquid form,” well here we are. This bottle from Hotel Chocolat is basically dessert that decided to get glamorous. It’s rich, velvety smooth, properly chocolatey, with that subtle cherry note that gives full Black Forest vibes. The vodka base keeps it grown-up, but it’s so creamy and indulgent you almost forget there’s alcohol involved. Almost. Not too strong and good value for money. Nice size bottle that will probably keep. Over ice it’s ridiculously good. In a chilled glass straight from the fridge? Even better. It feels like something you’d pour after dinner when you want to impress people or just impress yourself on a quiet night in. It’s decadent without being overly heavy, sweet but balanced, and dangerously easy to sip. Definitely one of those bottles you say you’ll “save for a special occasion” and then somehow the special occasion becomes Tuesday

These Hotel Chocolat drinks are a real treat. I bought a selection and every one has been beautifully smooth and rich without being sickly. They taste properly indulgent and feel far more special than standard chocolate liqueurs. The velvety chocolate flavour is spot on and works just as well poured over ice as it does stirred into hot milk or added to coffee. The salted caramel version in particular is gorgeous and the espresso martini flavour feels very grown up and balanced. They are perfect for evenings in, entertaining, or as a gift. The bottles look smart and feel premium, and a little goes a long way. If you enjoy chocolate drinks or dessert style liqueurs, these are well worth it. A proper luxury and one I would happily buy again.
