Pasture-raised, heritage pork lard.Lard can be used in all types of cooking. It also makes for some of the most phenomenal pastry ever. Our rare heritage hogs are born and raised on our family farm in California and spend their entire lives on pasture. They are fed a diet of pasture grasses and roots, with supplemental hay, a small amount of soy-free, corn-free, and GMO-free grain and whey. They also receive treats of eggs, fruits, nuts and vegetables raised here on the farm. We do not using farrowing crates. Our hogs are never confined to small spaces or locked indoors at any time in their life. All our meats are produced without the use of added hormones, growth stimulants, or antibiotics. USDA-inspected & processed for health and safety.Massa Natural Meats: For over forty years, the Massa Family has been actively involved in the beef industry, beginning with a small herd of registered Angus cattle in the 70’s. After searching for a healthier alternative for their own family’s diet, Duane and Wendy Massa realized there was a real need in the market for naturally-raised meats, so Massa Natural Meats was born! The Massa’s operate a multi-species farm with cattle, horses, sheep, pigs, and chickens, raised naturally on pasture using sustainable farming practices. We are truly a family operation. Duane & Wendy personally take a hands-on role with every aspects of the business from breeding & raising, to customer-service, marketing & shipping. Through selective breeding and careful range management, we are uniquely creating a group of animals that have become a healthy and sustainable alternative to factory farm practices. We do this for a love of the lifestyle, the outdoors, the animals, and to support our ancestral diet by producing quality natural meats that you just can’t find in a store. From our family to yours, we look forward to sharing our healthy, flavorful, tender meats we’re sure you’ll enjoy!

Disappointing
Pros: it is lard (best imo alternative for modern cooking oils) and it arrived in a glass jar as opposed to plastic.Cons: Very little flavor, pretty much tasteless - not what I expected. Doesn't even smell like lard. Weird texture - I've never seen lard that doesn't harden when refrigerated. Not USDA organic.Tendergrass Farms lard, unfortunately impossible to get now, has much more flavor, and tastes and smells amazing.

Cooking with this rendered pork fat has been great. It works especially well for seasoning cast iron pans and makes outstanding french fries, hash-browns, eggs and more. I would recommend this product for anyone interested in cooking with traditional fats.
