AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES - nirvanA Initiative Standard Edition for PlayStation 4

This is a sequel, but you don't need to play the original to get the story in this one. The puzzles are fun except for some puzzles that translated horribly from Japanese to English. The story is good, there are a few twists that will make you drop your ramen, so be prepared. Side note, there is another game that came out before this one that is an ARG through Twitter. I haven't played it, mostly b/c I'm not sure how to do it. But just letting others know it exists lol

Almost as fun as the first one

I mean I'm a fan of the guys work so a little biased but I quite enjoyed the game, I feel it works better as a sequel than a standalone game, a lot of the plot expects you to know these characters so unless you've played the first I'd say so that before diving into this one.

The collectors edition was worth it at launch, it's probably a little too expensive now however. You get a pop up parade figure of aiba, which is a nice quality, I'd say a step up above average prize figure quality but not premium. The art book is fun and the interviews with the devs was interesting to read. The soundtrack is great but I don't have a cd player. The game itself, I love this series. The characters really make the game. I was excited to hear that mizuki was the main character, but ryuki is great in his own way. I usually take my time with games but I finished this one quickly, it was too suspenseful to put down. The dialogues are great as always and they put a new spin on the somniums. The new virtual space investigations was also a very nice touch. I do have some complaints about the somniums. They seemed to go quantity over quality in this game. The originals puzzles were much more difficult and added a sense of mysteriousness to the game. This game does have a couple of difficult puzzles but generally they're pretty linear. The addition of some of the mini games during the somniums is fun, but overall they were too easy. I read in the interviews that they wanted to streamline the somniums but it stripped away some of the personality from the original game. Another thing about the switch version, it has the same weird problems as the first. Kind of laggy and sometimes the character models bug out. Either way this is a great game with some amazing characters, I highly recommend it to fans of visual novels and suspense stories.

Y'know after looking forward to this game for a while, it was a bit of an underwhelming game. But that still doesn't diminish my love for this series, if there's ever a third game you can count me in! the characters aside from Mizuki and Ryuki, were pretty one note, i guess the highlight of the game would be the somniums, there much better and more coherent, if not linear and simple.

Game is absolutely fantastic. The bad reviews are due to Amazon canceling preorders for the limited edition.

nirvanA Initiative es el segundo juego de The Somnium Files, y aunque en teoría podrías jugarlo sin jugar el primero ya que se centra en resolver un misterio nuevo aún así recomiendo terminar el anterior más que nada porque de esa forma le agarras más cariño a los personajes que aquí vuelven a aparecer constantemente y se tratan más detalladamente algunos conceptos que la secuela solo te lo explican brevemente. De hecho, el juego no se arriesga en mejorar lo que hizo el juego anterior, simplemente hay un asesino nuevo y dos protagonistas nuevos (una es la hija del prota anterior) pero reutilizan a la mayoria de los personajes y repiten escenarios y mecánicas. Por lo que si te gustó el primero y quieres más, ni lo dudes, pero si el juego anterior no te terminó de convencer este no va a hacer que cambies de opinión. Y si eres nuevo y quieres saber si el juego vale la pena....pues a mi me gusta y por eso le pongo calificación alta, pero debo admitir que tiene un estilo muy japonés, tiene mucho humor "slapstick" que va a desentonar mucho con el misterio y los asesinatos a investigar, es un juego que no es para tomarse en serio o te va a decepcionar que en un minuto estén todos serios para el siguiente lanzar el chiste más tonto que se les pueda ocurrir. Realmente no es un juego para cualquiera ni mucho menos para aquellos que no les gusta el anime o el humor japonés. Fuera de eso, tengo una queja con los tiempos de carga, son un poco más largos de lo que debería, especialmente en los menús, ya que el juego no me da la impresión que exprima toda la capacidad del PS4 como para exigir esos loadings y no recuerdo que el primer juego tardaran tanto (gráficamente no hay tanta diferencia entre un juego y otro). No son cargas que duren una eternidad ni que se sientan que rompan el juego, pero definitivamente creo que deberían tardar menos.
