It took me a while to figure out if I should write a review because I couldn't believe that this product has come into existence . All I can say is that this product is complete and total genius and that I don't believe there is any comparison on the market. It truly does not have a smell which is one of its greatest features and I might have been sold on that feature alone. It's ingredient list is short, chock full of natural stuff and I have to say that the beeswax/bentonite clay mix is magic. Though it doesn't advertise as such, this is the most effective anti-humectant I have ever used. I am a curly girl 3B thin hair and this product serves as an excellent texturizer to bulk up thin hair and to keep it in place without flaking. It may take some experimentation with what amount to use and how to use in conjunction with other products, but this is totally a keeper. For women using the LOC method or just looking to seal in products or moisturizing ingredients- this is the only thing you need full stop. I know a lot of curlies are constantly putting in moisturizing products with glycerine and other humectant ingredients, but trust me, sealing out moisture and keeping what you've applied will hold your style longer. This is more of a conversation to have on a CG site, but anti-humectants are where its at, especially in summer when humidity wants to take over your head. I have been looking for a product like this (unscented, clean ingredients, solid hold, bulking agent, anti-humectant) for a long time and I'm so glad I took the jump and made the purchase. I know the price is high on this one, but it's a winner. It does what it says. If it's not working for you the first time around, adjust the quantity or mix it into your current styling product or leave-in conditioner and watch the magic happen.

Great...and I mean GREAT hair clay. You get a big 4oz jar at decent price for good value. Easy scoop, easy application, doesn’t take a lot of product, responsive styling, high hold yet pliable, tames flyaways, insane texture, satin finish (hair looks healthy vs. overly matte and dry) performance/all day longevity, easy washout, doesn’t irritate my scalp and only has 8 ingredients!!! I ordered the unscented version because I needed an easy, go to, high holding and performing hair clay for work and business meetings where it’s more professional that I don’t smell like product. Looking forward to trying their scented version as well because eucalyptus and orange peel sounds like a good combo for a scent. I think the only cons would be the following....because it is made with castor oil it can collect/build pretty quickly in the hair and be slightly more difficult to shampoo out even though it is water based. Also, while the hold is great under normal conditions, because the formula relies solely on beeswax, the hold does break down a bit in direct sunlight and/or heat. Regardless, I HIGHLY recommend Ace High Clay 👍🏼

I have been using the unscented clay for about 4 years now. Pros: I haven't found a product that compares in texture and hold, as well as all-day longevity, even in the Florida sun. It also washes off my hands with just water, no greasy residue after application. Cons: The price is a touch high. But since I have short hair generally and don't use it every day I can stretch a jar out about 6 months. Also, mold does appear after a couple of months of use. This is not confined to just a "bad batch" but I have noticed this has been a continuing theme. These guys need to use something else as a preservative. TO HANDLE MOLD: What I do to control the mold is when I notice it beginning to form I throw in a couple drops of cinnamon, clove and or tea tree oil and mix it around in the clay with my finger. This does keep it under control. It does add a scent to the product but honestly it smells pretty good and doesn't stick. APPLICATION TIP: Some people report over-stickiness. The product is very dense and does require a little extra water to work into the hair effectively. Here is what I have figured out to be the absolute best application strategy. You need to start with towel-dry hair. Then apply a small amount of the product in my left palm with my right index finger. Then get your left hand fingers wet under the sink so there's a few drops of water in your fingers (not on the product in your palm). Then rub your hands together mixing the product with the moisture in your hands and you'll have a perfect consistency that evenly coats all your hair evenly and quickly. The whole thing takes just seconds.

I tried many brands in my quest to find a simple, effective hair product. This includes American Crew, Got2Be, Dove, Axe, and some better brands as well. Ace High is hands down the best I've tried. Initially I used the red cap pomade. It is good stuff. However, I wanted a bit more hold and a bit less shine. The Blue Suede stuff is perfect. It holds all freakin day, even in the wind, and can be easily fixed with a sweep of the hand. It looks natural, matte. I'm on the fence about the scent...in the jar it is really strong and kind of chemically. I think once it is in your hair it isn't a big deal (though I can't smell my head). Be warned, a little of this goes a long way. Don't go slathering this on at first or your hair will be gummy. Just a finger tips worth is enough, rub between your hands with a touch of water, then work into your hair. Once it dries it has the perfect balance of natural movement and hold. It is not sticky when used in moderation, and washes out easily. Overall I highly recommend giving this stuff a try. Plus in an age of massive corporations and outsourcing, it feels good to support a small business employing Americans to make a quality product.

I ordered this product with high hopes that it would serve my daily hair style needs well. It worked well during a few days of usage. Unfortunately, mold began growing on the clay within one week of opening the jar. The jar was kept indoors in a bathroom cabinet, and the lid was kept on between uses -- it was no subject to any unusual uses or conditions that would promote mold growth. It seems unreasonable to need to keep this in the fridge or take some other step to prevent mold growth, and I've never had this issue with any other personal care product. I'm not willing to put moldy product in my hair.
