I love Brand Palouse and in addition to the split peas have bought their garbanzo beans, brown lentils, and red spring wheat berries. All of them are the best! I've even bought bags of them as gifts for friends and family. The split peas make the most delicious soup ever. The garbanzos make the best hummus ever, and they're also terrific in salads and soup. I've made sprouts from the lentils and garbanzos and I'm sprouting peas right now. Palouse is such a wonderful company, and the Mader family who run it stand by their products. Look into their company ethos-they live and stand by what they say. You can field trace your product and find out exactly who grew it and where, and the date it was packaged. The company's website has fantastic recipes (I especially recommend the manicotti with garbanzo filling!) and they explain exactly how to prepare the different varieties of legumes and grains they sell. If you buy the wheat berries, Ina Garten has a great wheat berry salad recipe you can get online, and it's a huge hit when I take it to pot lucks. Her recipe calls for spelt or quinoa in addition to the wheat berries, but I use all wheat berries and it works fine. In these days with food getting more expensive and protein harder to come by, the Palouse Brand products are an excellent way to eat more healthily and deliciously without breaking your budget. You can't go wrong with Palouse Brand!

Excellent quality split peas. I’ve made several pots of soup with these, and having inspected each batch carefully before cooking I haven’t found a single piece of debris, a malformed pea, a pebble, or anything else that shouldn’t be there is this bag. The flavor is excellent, too.

The very best. Clean, pure flavor, cooks to perfection, add ham. Best soup ever!! Bag lasts a good while. This is my second or third purchase. Ill never buy store bought again.

For the first time in many moons, I found Palouse Brand green split peas that made a soup so beautiful and flavorful that I am ready to make the second stock pot full tomorrow! The flavor and tenderness of the peas were unparalleled. And, when simmered with a smoked ham hock, sautéed sweet Walla Walla onions, celery, shallots, loads of carrots, red and orange bell peppers, unsalted chicken broth (in place of water), seasoned with just coarse sea salt and a generous measure of freshly ground black pepper, the amalgamation of flavors, textures and colors was absolutely perfect! Yellow split peas and pearled barley are next on my shopping list from Palouse Brand and Clear Creek Foods — can’t wait to see what culinary inspiration these two bring to my little rural kitchen! A tip — When cooking the split peas, I use less liquid (water, vegetable or chicken broth) than is suggested for a more “traditional” thickness of soup. You can always add a bit more later to get it to just the right consistency for you and yours . . . I’ve cooked other split peas that never became tender, even after overnight soaks. Palouse Brand/Clear Creek Foods will be my go to favorites from now on! It was my first experience with this family farm’s products, and I’m looking forward to their lentils, yellow split peas, chickpeas and pinto beans — buying in 5 lb. sacks now that I know I can trust their quality!

As above really like the taste of these green split peas. You do not have to soak them them before cooking. They make fantastic flavoured soup.
